Led lights electronics damage on Fazer Mk1 ? - ozanec123 - 26-05-23 I recently got FZS 600 (2001) and i almost got killed by the terrible front lights. So i decided to purchase Philips X-treme Vision Moto and Osram Night Breaker Laser as low and high beam replacement. However a friend warned me that I might get the electronics damaged that way, so the question is, can i directly swap them without anything additional, or there is more to be done ? And how much improvement i can expect. Thanks in advance Re: Led lights electronics damage on Fazer Mk1 ? - darrsi - 27-05-23 Both bulbs are pretty much the same as far as light output is concerned, and both good quality bulbs. But it's not the bulbs that are the problem, it's the reflector part inside the headlight housing. To be blunt, it's shite. So although the replacement bulbs will improve things a little bit (i have them on my bike), and the power isn't an issue, they still aren't close to how they should really reflect on the road with decent bulbs fitted, so don't expect too much. What a lot of us have done is buy some (10w+) 12v LED spotlights which use very little power consumption in comparison to the standard headlights, but are much brighter at night, and can also be left on as daylight running lights as well. I bought a waterproof on/off switch for them that's mounted on the handlebars, and the lights i mounted on the side of the radiator. I also bought some heat proof tubing to protect the wires from the radiator heat. New! LED bulb kit H4 Nano technology for your Car and Motorcycle reduced the current from 8amps to 3.5amps I was used the Osram night breakers for years, but the dims were not much better than the normal bulbs. But are they even legal in the EU countries? and one more thing...should they run in addition to the normal low and high beam lights, or they should work only separately, maybe only with the position light ofc?
Zero legal issues. Aim them low to light the road up,rather than blind people. Passed many Mot's, in fact my examiner asked where to buy them, he liked them. When I had a Boxeye over 20 years ago I modified the left side to take a H4. Slow tedious job but was worth it.
Yeah, it's the left side H1 (not H7, you got me thinking again there) fitting that has prevented me from trying out fancier bulbs in the past.
Can you post few photos how you have installed them, i cant get an idea how they might be attached to the radiator, and also the tubing. Thanks a lot again Re: Led lights electronics damage on Fazer Mk1 ? - darrsi - 01-06-23 There are pictures on Page 4 of the link I gave above (the black one above the red one) And right at the end of Page 5 is the link to the cable heat protector tubing. |
