Expensive vs cheaper brake rotors - Texan67 - 17-03-23
I'm going to be buying new brake rotors. I ride twisty roads at a good pace and do 1-2 track days a year. Nothing too serious.
I'm wondering what spending more money would get me, if anything. I'm looking at the two in the links below. The first is a no-name ebay brand $426 for all three rotors and new pads. The second is a single front Braking brand rotor for $388.
Just wondering if there is any real difference. Even if someone is actually racing, what would the difference be? They're all floating rotors.

The ebay links wouldn't show but the no-name brand is at the 'Extreme Shop" ebay store. Both rotors look similar, they're wave rotors with black centers. So you get the picture.

Buy Brembo and be sure of what you're getting. Far superior rotor to many aftermarket items including EBC.
I have seen to many cheap aftermarket rotors crack under heavy use

Pads can make a big difference to rotor wear, but it's also down to each individuals riding too.
I have aftermarket discs that were considered cheap at the time and they're still going strong over 10 years later, but tried a different set of pads recently and noticed immediately that they were being a lot more abrasive than my usual pads so I bought my usual pads again and they barely touch the rotors as far as wear is concerned. In the same breath, the pads that wore my discs are used a lot by others without any issues, so you do need to figure out the best combination.
The non abrasive pads I use are made by Galfer. (on the front only)
I've never raced though, and never really been a heavy braker either.

Brembos would be an excellent choice, as you’ll know exactly what you’re going to get. Buy cheap, buy twice.

Last MOT my FZ6 had an advisory on the rear brake disc being worn.
Today I received one from a breakers which is virtually pristine and cost just £25!
Enough said...
