Tubeless tyre valves? - Decoke Dave - 19-10-21

  I have changed many motorcycle tyres in my time mostly with inner tubes.  I have never changed a tubeless tyre valve, is there anything I need to know, are all valves the same or a specific fitment (FZS 1000). Plenty of videos on YouTube on changing them but don’t want to go to my local stealer to be charged a fortune for two basic valves.  :o

I could be wrong but i think they are all the same size
Pop to your local tyre fitting shop and they will probably give you two if you ask nicely  Big Grin

There are long and short valves, Long valves are mostly for car rims and short for motorcycle rims.
Both will fit but the long ones are a pain in the arse trying to get an air hose attached, on a 17" rim..
I usually put WD40 on them to pull them through the rim.

You can also get angled 90 and 45*  Wink

Good idea the 90° valves. Makes tyre inflation so much easier, and no chance of the valve being overcome by inertia at warp speeds.

I have the 90 degree valves on my FZ6, it makes it a damn sight easier to get an air pump onto them :thumbup

They could upset the balance of the bike though as the wind hits the cap  Wink

Interesting thought.

I actually had to think about which way my valves point and they do, indeed, face away from the side stand.

Although it doesn't make much of a difference to me as such, since, whenever I pump up the tyres, I put the bike on the centre stand and give the wheels a spin to check for any intrusions.
