the fazers' got to go,what to get next ? - cl1ve2004 - 15-07-21 as per the title,my fzs 600 gotta go, so as the next bike will be the last before I hang up my helmet, want something comfy, but able to stick in the twisties with low helmet noise and decent wind protection.. Thinking about tracer 700,or Kawasaki versys 650 as brand new bikes, deffo not a Harley or cruiser type bike, nothing naked either...don't mind a decent used bike as long as it can do the above.. 6 foot tall and 13 stone so not a racing snake !! :rolleyes Any ideas welcome guys. Clive Re: the fazers' got to go,what to get next ? - Dudeofrude - 15-07-21 Tracer 700 is a great bike but I don't think it does much in the wind deflection department without a stupid big screen on it. Although the versus is a good bike too I personally prefer the Ninja 650 as its looks loads nicer and it makes use of the limited power better than the versys. That may well be a sticking point for you coming from the 600, they do have a decent chunk of power compared to the twins you've mentioned above. Have you thought about something like a modern CBR 600F? They aren't stupidly sporty but enough to have fun on? Re: the fazers' got to go,what to get next ? - BBROWN1664 - 15-07-21 Why has the Fazer got to go? Re: the fazers' got to go,what to get next ? - cl1ve2004 - 15-07-21 I've had the fazer family for years now both 1000 and 600,and fz6, and I wanted something with newer specs.68 now and wanted new (ish) before I stop riding. May seem silly to lose the fazer, think I've earned a newer bike. Re: the fazers' got to go,what to get next ? - Gnasher - 16-07-21 You're going to really struggle to find a bike in the same class that will be as good let alone outperform a FZS600. Much of the newer stuff is just not as capable, nearly all less comfortable, just ask those who jumped from FZS1000 to FZ1, all the Tracers are the same and forget carrying pillions in comfort, smaller, harder seat and higher foot pegs. Due to emission controls, the engines aren't as nice, often with snappy throttle response and higher fuel consumption real world. Yes some of that can be sorted but it's going to cost you. Many of my customers have jumped off the FZS600 and wished they'd hadn't, some going back. The FZS600 was one of those bikes that was right straight off the drawing board and is in my opinion the best middleweight class bike ever made. It's not perfect but bloody close, does it all and very very well, out performing many 750s even some 1000's. Good luck with your hunt, my advice would be to stick with the FZS ![]() ![]() Re: the fazers' got to go,what to get next ? - Dave48 - 16-07-21 Have previously owned FZS 600 & 1000 and FZ6. Now 73 and bought Tracer 700 new in 2016when they were value for money £6300 OTR. IMO you must decide between the benefits of the fzs 600 the best all rounder for the money with the in line4 motor and carbs. And the Tracer with its offset firing order twin cylinder. Both excellent bikes but different. Servicing access on Tracer eg spark plugs bit of a pain whether you do your own work or be prepared to pay dealer labour rates. FAZER EASIER ACCESS-LESS TO REMOVE PANEL WISE. I love both bikes but will be sticking with Tracer til I stop riding 6now. Re: the fazers' got to go,what to get next ? - cl1ve2004 - 16-07-21 Great replies, and thanks for your input everyone. I know the fazer will be a tough one to beat, gonna be difficult ?? |
