Carb Inlet Rubbers - ben - 23-06-21 Hi all, Need to do a carb clean soon but my inlet rubbers are looking a bit cracked. There's a good chance they'll crumble/split when I take the carbs off. Going rate for a new set seems to be about £80 (https://yambits.co.uk/fzs600-fazer-carb-inlet-rubbers-p-75890.html), but there are some cheap ones on ebay for around £20. Has anyone had any luck with the cheap ones? Don't really wanna fork out £80 unless I have to. Ta. Re: Carb Inlet Rubbers - BBROWN1664 - 23-06-21 The rubbers are very thick and the cracks are normally only on the outside. Re: Carb Inlet Rubbers - ben - 23-06-21 Yeah, I remember reading that somewhere. Was just thinking I might as well find out if the cheap ones are ok just in case. If there's a problem when mine come off, then I'll know which ones to get. Re: Carb Inlet Rubbers - the cueball - 29-06-21 Had the cheap ones on the bike for over 3 years now (used and left outside all winter) and they are still holding up well. Need to be mental to pay £80 for them IMO.. Re: Carb Inlet Rubbers - VinceFZS600 - 09-07-21 Hi, Mine looked just as bad but I’d wager they’re fine, just a cosmetic annoyance. I replaced mine thinking they were shot but the Caracas don’t even go half way, it looks like you’d poke it & they’d fall apart! I paid £14.93 inc postage off eBay, link here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223651147188 No idea why they are £23 now BUT it’s a flawless part- please don’t spend silly money when there’s no need to! Vince. Re: Carb Inlet Rubbers - snoopysmutt - 13-07-21 A few years ago I took my Fazer to a main dealer's workshop to get the carbs balanced (I felt the tick over had gone off a bit). They said it wasn't posible to do because the inlet rubbers were cracked. Later I had the inlets off to find that the cracking was superficial. Just for cosmetic reasons I smeared some black silicone sealant around the outside surface, reassembled and balanced the carbs myself. The bike still runs perfectly today. Re: Carb Inlet Rubbers - Creaky - 17-07-21 I used silicone on mine too to tidy the bodies up. Worked a treat and no issues. Re: Carb Inlet Rubbers - StreetFzr - 17-09-21 I’ve just done mine and used the cheap set, just watch the sealing ring as the quality can be a bit sus but nothing a bit of sealant won’t help with. Mine were really bad and one had been squashed and pushed over by the carbs (must have been fitted wrong) so was sucking a lot of air-once I did them the bike ran much better. Very tight and fiddly job though, I loosened the air box and slid it and the carbs back so you have about 15-20 mm of room ?? |
