Exup valve - fatbloke62 - 18-03-21 Hi all , a bit of advice is required, i stripped down the exup valve this afternoon to give it it's annual good hiding with the copper grease, one issue i have is with the bush in the valve housing its solid even warm and a gentle tap will not shift it ,i don't want to hit it to hard and damage the housing as the valve is free when assembled ,can leave it or should the bush be free to spin also, ta Re: Exup valve - b1k3rdude - 18-03-21 (18-03-21, 04:35 PM)fatbloke62 link Wrote: One issue i have is with the bush in the valve housing its solid even warm and a gentle tap will not shift it.If its the phosphor-bronze bush thats in the outer cover, just leave it where it is. The main thing you need to check is concentricity/run-out of the exup valve, as long as the valve itself can freely rotate by hand with said cover on and the 3x allen bolts installed your good to go. Re: Exup valve - Gaz66 - 18-03-21 Mine's exactly same, don't worry about it, avoid cheapo copper grease, it's not up to the job , buy proper high temp copper slip. This stuffs not bad for money. https://www.zoro.co.uk/shop/lubricants-and-chemicals/lubricants/copaslip-anti-seize-lead-free-500gm-tin/p/ZT1037057X?utm_source=google&utm_campaign=pla%2B%7C%2BLubric or you can pay a lot more for higher grade stuff. https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/lubricants/0691303/?cm_mmc=UK-PLA-DS3A-_-google-_-PLA_UK_EN_Facilities_Cleaning_%26_Maintenance_Whoop-_-Lubricants_Whoop+(2) :thumbup Re: Exup valve - fatbloke62 - 19-03-21 Thanks for the replies gents Re: Exup valve - pilninggas - 23-03-21 The FZR1000 boys now use ceramic grease for lubing, as unlike copper slip it'll withstand the heat (rated for VHTs) and is closer in spec to the stuff yamaha used at the factory. You can get it cheaper than that, and one tub will last for years. |
