I imagine quite a few of us remember winter (and summer) rides before the days of breathable waterproof linings.

Yep, about the closest you got were Barbour suits which you could have rewaxed at Lewis Leathers but they were never the same and used to smell and go sticky in the summer. :lol

Still got my "Stormguard" Ancient order of neverwets badge, that I got when I bought a jacket from them in the mid sixties.

un :rollin Back in the 80s and my first bike I had to ride in all weathers and my "waterproofs" were sh1t - it was a one piece over all and I remember there was always a little pond that gathered on the seat in front of my crotch (yes I know what I said :lol ) I had to stand up on the footrests every now and then to drain the pond but I still ended up with a wet arse until about 2 pm until it was time to do it all again on the way home.
Then I had a big gap in my riding and in that time no doubt waterproofs got better but it was too late for me as I was already traumatised and vowed never to ride in the wet again.

Same here,I used to have to ride in all weathers to work and back,never any fun especially in the winter,you can shove all that now,when I do get caught in the rain I pussyfoot home cold and wet 'cause I never had the sense to carry an oversuit,then spend all day cleaning the crap off :groan
