Renthall 758 ultra low bars - steve65 - 01-07-20
I’ve researched replacement bars as I’m used to a wider slightly straighter bar on my Guzzi Griso and I Had Ultra Lows on my old ZRX1200R so that’s the direction I’m going in. I won’t be near my bike for a couple of weeks but want to order the bars. As they are a little straighter can anyone who’s done this swap tell me if there’s any possibility with a fairing clash or is there plenty of space.

Hi Steve, I’d say that the 758’s are the most popular choice, and there are no issues with clearance, and I have mine pushed quite far forward. If you want to keep the original bar end weights, which are quite heavy (308grams) compared to aftermarket ones, you’ll need to get the bar ends threaded as the stock Fazer ones screw in. The thread required would be 16mm@ 16 threads per inch.

Thanks a lot fellas. I’ll be doing that. Robbie, is that a 16mm diameter tap? If I’m correct that equates to 5/8 when looking for a tap?
I started school with imperial but by the time I left it was metric!

Yep, a 16mm tap. The inside diameter of the Renthals is 14mm. When mine were done I was told it was necessary to run a 15mm drill in the bar end first. Others have proved since that this is unnecessary so the bar can be tapped directly.
When I started school it was imperial, and when I left school.....it was still imperial :lol .

Ah, one more question. Do you know if it’s British Standard Whitworth or something else?

All my whitworth stuff and AF for that matter, have been confined to a metal box under my workbench, no doubt never to see the light of day again. All I know is the thread required is 16mm at 16tpi. If you remove a bar end weight, you'll need an allen key for that, you'll be able to measure the thread and see what's required.

M16 x 1.5 does however.
