Could be the next FZ - robbo - 08-06-20 Read an article today that Yamaha are considering production of another incarnation of the MT09. Gets my vote for sure. Re: Could be the next FZ - mtread - 08-06-20 That looks vaguely familiar ![]() Re: Could be the next FZ - celticbiker - 08-06-20 Here's a news article. Visordown: Could Yamaha be planning a retro machine based on the MT-09?. https://www.visordown.com/news/new-bikes/could-yamaha-be-planning-retro-machine-based-mt-09 Re: Could be the next FZ - Dudeofrude - 08-06-20 Well it's a no from me. Think it looks Foccing awful! I'm really not a fan of this "2 torches taped under the fairing" look that yamaha seem to be keen on these days and tbh I'm not overly keen on the triple engine either. It runs/goes nice enough etc in the MT09 just not my cup of tea Re: Could be the next FZ - Oldgit - 09-06-20 OH you mean the motorbike with the fatal front suspension problem that they continued to ignore--no thanks. Re: Could be the next FZ - robbo - 09-06-20 The front suspension was shit on the early ones. But I thought lessons had been learnt. This bike, I think, is easy on the eye. At least it doesn't have a brown saddle and tyres off a tractor. :lol Re: Could be the next FZ - vinnyb - 09-06-20 (09-06-20, 07:53 PM)robbo link Wrote: The front suspension was shit on the early ones. Yamaha have just taken a successful bike and created an appeal, for I imagine, not a lot of money, to people who like that style. At least it looks like a cafe racer and is usable. Unlike some of the boxer engined, brown saddled, tractor tyred stuff that is churned out nowadays under the cafe racer banner. It's miles better looking than some of those bikes I reckon. I don't mean to insult your eyesight robbo, but that looks absolutely foc all like a cafe racer of any description Haha heres a few real ones to jog your memory ? They may be ugly and unusable but they are definitely Cafe racers Re: Could be the next FZ - robbo - 11-06-20 Memory and eyesights fine thanks :thumbup Owned a few in the 60's when they were the must have in motorcycling.. My Norton was very similar to your pic, and was my only transport so had to be usable, and how you can say they look ugly, obviously must be a different era thing. I was surprised coffee didn't like it, but hey, it would be boring if we all liked the same stuff. All early cafe racers morphed out of road bikes, discounting custom framed specials, so in that spirit and allowing for modern styling, that MT09 is similar to the Dunstall kits you could buy to give cafe race styling to a Dominator/SS, or a Road Rocket,Bonneville etc. I'd be interested in what you think of the cafe racer kit you can get for the 600 Fazer, made by a company on the Isle of Wight. I think it's great and certainly gives the bike a new lease of life,if you like that style. Re: Could be the next FZ - Dudeofrude - 11-06-20 Personally if I were go down a cafe racer type route then something like a nicely done xjr1300 would be more my cup of tea Re: Could be the next FZ - fazersharp - 11-06-20 (11-06-20, 12:35 PM)Dudeofrude link Wrote: Personally if I were go down a cafe racer type route then something like a nicely done xjr1300 would be more my cup of teaI really like the way all 4 exhausts sweep under dont think I have ever seen that before. Re: Could be the next FZ - robbo - 11-06-20 Thanks for the link dude, yep that's the one. The half fairing was typical of the Mick Hemmings Commandos, and the colour scheme old school Yamaha race colours. I'd like to build one if I could bend my body into the shape required to ride it. :lol . That's why my Fireblade had to go. Of the 2 pics you posted, I much prefer the twin shock as to me it's more traditional. No doubt an old age thing ![]() |
