Rear disk bolts - torque setting - teecee90 - 09-03-20

Can anyone clarify the correct torque settings for the rear disk bolts? The service manual has contradictory information on this (not for the first time). On page 4-11 it shows 18 Nm, but on p 2-22 it says 23 Nm. I've just put new disks on and torqued to 18 Nm but am now worried they may not be tight enough. Rear bolts are M8 and front bolts are M6, so makes sense that the rear should be tighter.

Really don't want to have to take the bolts out and do it again - they are loctited in.  :'(

Well spotted. I've just done mine so have the same dilemma. On early R1's it looks like the amounts are 13ft lb front and 22 ft lb rear, which would equate to 18Nm front and 30Nm rear. I'll give my local Yam dealer a call today, and see what he reckons.

Just been in touch with Yamaha Technical Support, handy phone number 01932 358000. He reckons 23Nm with Loctite. Well spotted teecee90. It even showed both figures on their info, so the guy had to do a bit of digging to verify that it's 23Nm. Back out to the garage it is then :thumbup

Well that’s a right pain in the arse, but thanks for clearing up the confusion Robbo. What chance have you got when the service manual can’t even get it right...

23Nm with a dab of blue Loctite
