Gear position indicator ? - Stormbringer - 10-01-20

Anyone fitted a gear position indicator and if you have where did you tap in to the loom?

Re: Gear position indicator ? - CatalinU - 10-01-20

I just got one from ebay. Not fitted yet as is cold in the winter

Re: Gear position indicator ? - robbo - 10-01-20

I fitted a HealTech to my Gen1. The instructions were quite straight forward, but could be different for your FZ8 though.

Re: Gear position indicator ? - agricola - 10-01-20

Yes. FZ6 S2 fazer though. Healtech Gipro. Theres a recent thread in the FZ6 pages, may shed some light on it for you

Re: Gear position indicator ? - robbo - 10-01-20

If the model for the FZ8 instructions are similar to a Gen 1, then other than +ve and -ve, you'll need to identify the crank position sensor lead, and also the speed signal wires coming from the ecu. Using a multimeter and a needle to pierce the insulation, is how I identified the correct leads. If you go for the HealTech GiPro make sure you order the model specific to your bike.

Robbo, which model of Gipro did you get, seems to be loads of them!

Re: Gear position indicator ? - robbo - 27-01-20

From memory it was the GiPro X type G2. There are some moody Healtech copies about than can cause ecu problems. If you go on the Healtech site, you should be able to input your bike model and it'll tell you which GiPro is suitable.

Got the Glpro 2 .
It has a touch pad and Shift warning as well as some other features.
All fitted and works like a dream .

Re: Gear position indicator ? - Johnnylad123 - 27-01-20

Yep just checked their site, X type G2 is the listed model for a Gen1.

What's the part number for the healtech kit for the GEN1?

Was it a plug and play fitting?

Re: Gear position indicator ? - robbo - 16-03-20

No, you have to identify some wiring under the right hand panel, so you'd need a multimeter and a needle to be able to pierce the insulation to test which lead is which. Somewhere on the forum someone took my in depth fitting info, and made it into an advice feature, but I can't remember who that was. The fitting instructions are quite clear. Maybe making a bracket to mount it on is the hardest job.

Re: Gear position indicator ? - CatalinU - 16-03-20

I was looking for a thread on how to fit a healtech gear indicator, couldn't fin one Sad

Re: Gear position indicator ? - robbo - 16-03-20

Can't remember who I pm'd the info to, but just buy it the instructions are really straightforward. From memory there's one cable to splice under the right hand panel, a plug and play cable that fits between a snap connector, and then some power. If you take the screen off to fit it, you can make a bracket to fit the display above and between the speedo/rev counter.

I knew it was somewhere, thanks MrAgricola. CatalinaU, that will save you having to mess about with a needle and multi meter Smile , unlike when I fitted mine :'( .
