Mods for an FZ1 on track? - Tribal Chestnut - 18-07-19 Has anyone on here done more than the occasional track-day on their FZ1? I’m looking for suggestions on possible mods. I’ve gone +2 on the rear and my yokes are 10mm lower, but I’m thinking about a better rear shock, quickshifter and 55 section rear tyre (currently a 50 PR4, so something a little more track-orientated too). Might look at disabling the ABS, but only for the track. Will also remove the centre-stand & Scott-oiler. Pillion pegs will have to stay for the kid. I’m sure I met a guy at Brands back in April who had done a fair bit to his. Was on a red FZ1 in Inters. Re: Mods for an FZ1 on track? - Dudeofrude - 18-07-19 You wanna speak to the Member 'Slimwilly' he did some extensive mods and racing on his gen2. Here's a link to his thread, you may find some stuff of interest on there http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,21794.0.html Re: Mods for an FZ1 on track? - Mustang - 18-07-19 I found the foot pegs too low and ground out everywhere. I tried hard to sell a set of rearsets on here for ages, no takers. Mine was quick enough in inters but I had an r1 shock in there from America with special adaptor top mount. That’s a good point that I forgot to mention. Fitted a pair of rearsets a while back. Still catching them and my toes now and again, so I’ve got to get used to hanging off more, but they made a good difference. Re: Mods for an FZ1 on track? - Hamos - 21-07-19 Nitron rear shock and k tech fork valves. Gets spendy but gives the bike loads more control. You could also get jack up plates for the rear rather than dropping the forks through yokes. Gives you the same geometry but adds a little ground clearance. 190/55 fits on fine and you’ve already adjusted gearing to compensate. Re: Mods for an FZ1 on track? - coffee - 21-07-19 What about some tassles in the ends of the bars,a whip back aerial and some go faster striping on the tank? I'm just modifying my cissy bar, making it more aerodynamic to match my wind tunnel tested flying jacket. ![]() Re: Mods for an FZ1 on track? - Tribal Chestnut - 22-07-19 (21-07-19, 08:19 PM)coffee link Wrote: What about some tassles in the ends of the bars,a whip back aerial and some go faster striping on the tank? Good point re. tyre size/gearing there, had not considered that at all.
