FZ1n exhaust cackle - TerryB - 02-07-19 Hi I have just bought my fz1n it has been de-cated and has a micron exhaust fitted but on the overrun I get a loud of cackle, I like a bit but wondered what I can do to get rid of it? Thank you in advance Re: FZ1n exhaust cackle - Dudeofrude - 02-07-19 It probably has the AIS still installed. That forces fresh air into the exhaust system to help with emissions etc but most of us have just removed it. It's a big pipey looking thing that sits on top of the engine above the headers. You'll know of it's gone as there will be a bit of empty space and the rope of the engine will have as there will be 4 block off plates Re: FZ1n exhaust cackle - TerryB - 02-07-19 Thanks for that... where can I get these block off plates? Re: FZ1n exhaust cackle - Dudeofrude - 03-07-19 https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F113744035028 If you search this forum for AIS removal there will be plenty of posts to guide your through the process, of thay what your planning to do. If you do still have it installed then another (easier/cheaper) way around it is to block off the pipe in the air box. I cant remember off the top of my head but in pretty sure it's on the left hand side of the airbox and is a hole about the size of a marble. I've heard story of people supergluing ball bearings, marbles and all sorts over the hole just to stop the air getting sucked in Again have a search about the forum and there should be plenty of threads about it Re: FZ1n exhaust cackle - Stainy - 03-07-19 Or leave it as it is - I bloody love mine popping and banging (with flames apparently! :b ) Re: FZ1n exhaust cackle - coffee - 04-07-19 (03-07-19, 02:02 PM)Stainy link Wrote: Or leave it as it is - I bloody love mine popping and banging (with flames apparently! :b ) and me!! what's AIS ? Re: FZ1n exhaust cackle - Dynspud - 04-07-19 AIS = Air Induction System Re: FZ1n exhaust cackle - coffee - 05-07-19 Gotcha! obvious now I see it. :\ Re: FZ1n exhaust cackle - Kenbob - 06-07-19 I still have the AIS on my thou and my mivv exhaust pops and bangs like a Battlefield. I love it. Re: FZ1n exhaust cackle - steve 10562cc - 12-07-19 Going to remove my AIS this weekend, got the plate kit off Ebay once I remove the AIS it will show a fault code do I need to get this removed or can I just ignore it. The bikes a 2008 FZ1s fitted with a scorpion exhaust and headers I like the sound of the crackle, but had a few extra looks from the friendly boys in blue makes it time it went. |
