EXUP HOW TO - Choppa - 28-05-19 Hi I'm new on here and I'm starting to look for a fazer 1000. There's one thing bothering me and that's how do I know if the exup valve is working or fitted even when I go looking at bikes? Cheers Choppa. Re: EXUP HOW TO - ogri48 - 28-05-19 choppa do a search mate, there is an absolute wealth of information here on it. If you havnt already bought a bike your best bet by far is to hang on until one of the regulars sells one on here; you'll be covered on all bases and probably be able to get an ivanised one too. They don't come up often, but they do come up, patience is the key. Your only sure way of checking whether an exup valve is still in situ is having a gander inside, but as you'll find from searching, that aint always an easy thing with the age these bikes are now. Re: EXUP HOW TO - Choppa - 28-05-19 Thanks ogri48, I've been doing a bit research on here already. As far as being patient is concerned Ive never been good at that especially with an empty garage, but I will try :rolleyes Re: EXUP HOW TO - robbo - 29-05-19 I know you want a blue one, but getting a well sorted/maintained one is more important in my opinion. You could always respray it in the winter if it really has to be blue. :lol Re: EXUP HOW TO - PieEater - 29-05-19 Have you looked at the FAQ as the EXUP is not the only thing you should be looking at? The first thing you should do is ask the owner where the EXUP valve is, if they don't know then walk away as they should be servicing it once a year. If they can point to the cover then ask them to remove it (2 minute job), if they can't because the bolts are seized, walk away. With the cover off make sure both cables are attached to the pulley and ask the owner to turn on the ignition, you should see the valve reset to its default position, if it does then all is good. If the owner fobs you off about making these checks then walk away. Re: EXUP HOW TO - Choppa - 29-05-19 Robbo: I've actually just been thinking about that today, colour not a massive priority. Pieeater: Thanks for the reply that's the kind of info I've been looking for. I've looked through the faq it's a great write up plenty for me to consider ![]() Re: EXUP HOW TO - ogri48 - 31-05-19 (29-05-19, 12:09 PM)PieEater link Wrote: Have you looked at the FAQ as the EXUP is not the only thing you should be looking at?all good advice dude... Re: EXUP HOW TO - Choppa - 02-06-19 Just wondering is there a gen 2 faq/buying guide on here, can't seem to find one. Re: EXUP HOW TO - robbo - 02-06-19 If you buy a Gen 2, you'll be able to write it :lol . Re: EXUP HOW TO - coffee - 02-06-19 :eek how dare you ![]() Re: EXUP HOW TO - Choppa - 03-06-19 Choppa Gen2 buying guide; 1. Check bike for 2 wheels What do you think? 8) Re: EXUP HOW TO - robbo - 03-06-19 Excellent so far. :lol Maybe other than the poor fuelling of the early model, and limited tank range, there are no other short comings and points to be aware of, so that's why there's no Gen 2 faq/buying guide. |
