Decent paddock stands? - Dudeofrude - 12-04-19
As per title can anyone recommend a good quality paddock stand?
Not interest in an ABBA or anything that fancy, just a normal good quality rear paddock stand preferably designed to fit the Fz1 so I can just line up and lift?
I currently have a 'universal' one with spring hooks and I'm sick to death of trying to line it up then faff about pushing the hooks back and forth to get them on the spools while also holding the bike upright etc etc then once its finally up I've noticed its leaning to one side so really need a new one

I have never found the need for a paddock stand. I just use the mainstand.

Get an ABBA stand direct from ABBA worth there weight in gold. I have front and rear paddock stands never used either since I got an ABBA. Don't know where abouts you are but PM me there yours if they are any good to you.

To be honest I may well just get an ABBA stand after all, For some reason I had in my head that they were £300+ but having looked on their website they are only £104 with the adaptors!
I was looking at spending nearly that for a rear stand anyway so may as well give that a good seeing as they have such good review/recommendations ?

No chance, dont need a big clunky bit of metal hanging off the bottom of the bike. Weight saving and all that ?
Style over practicality with my bike I'm afraid haha

If you get the other bits for the abba stand you can strip the back end right out including the swinging arm, and the front end including forks in fact everything just leaving the frame on the stand ( I don't work for them) just the best money I've spent after years of struggling to strip bikes down for rebuilds.

Ive had an ABBA stand for a few years now and they're really good,just make doubly sure your adaptors are right home before you lever the bike up, 'cause if they're not and the bike kicks sideways you'll gouge the frame. :eek

My ABBA stand has seen at least 20 years of action working on both my Speed Triple and Fireblade. The dedicated adaptors for each bike cost around £18, so no problem if you decide to change bikes. Doesn't take up much storage room either.

ROBBO.......what stand have you got , sky or superbike lift ? Always wanted a skylift but price put me off , if you have the super bike stand can you lift both wheels at the same time ?

I had both wheels off the floor on my XJR1300 was stable enough to work on.

I have the superbike stand, but when I bought that a long time ago, you could buy an extra trolley jack looking gadget with an adjustable height pad, that went under the headers or sump. This allowed the front wheel to be lifted as well as the rear. I don't see it on their current website though. I'll whats app you a pic of it. Luckily I have a hydraulic full length bike lift. If I need the Fazer front wheel off the ground I just put a ratchet strap over the pillion seat and hook the ends to the table whilst on the centre stand. Tighten up the strap which pulls the back down and the fronts in the air.

Ah , I see , the big attraction for me with the sky lift is the height , dont like crawling about on a dirty garage floor anymore , I can get a hydraulic table cheaper than the sky lift so parhaps thats the way to go for me.........I do like the skylift though :rolleyes

Hi Red,
I had the Abba before the table as few of my bikes at the time had centrestands,so the Abba still gets used on the Triumph, albeit on the table at a comfortable sitting height. If you get a table, a good idea is to drill some holes along the edge at strategic points to hook a tie down/ratchet strap through to then steady the bike wherever needed if you're doing something a bit brutal.
