Bust my fairing! - Andy W - 01-08-18 My own fault for being in a rush but the bike fell in my garage & I've broken the fairing above the rear of the headlight.. :'( :o Any tips on fixing it?... I'm thinking I can put some fibreglass on the inside for strength & then sand out the split line in order to skim fill it? Fekking nuisance as I'm busy (& getting very skint) fitting new DID ZVM-X chain, Obigene sprockets & wavy rotors, Koso digital multi-guage, had new Metzler Roadtec 01 rear tyre, been tightenening headache bearings & generally tweaking things..........Grrrrrrr! :\ Re: Bust my fairing! - steve 10562cc - 02-08-18 I've had some success using a soldering iron and welding the bits together from the back being careful not to melt the plastic right through. you can use a bit of old fairing if you have any kicking round or plastic cable ties as a filler rod. there's a posting on you tube on how to do it. Though they are not as dear as I thought bought OME in the right colour from main yam dealer for £258 for my fz1s. It had fallen over when the previous owner hadn't put the side stand down properly and hit the kerb with the fairing. Re: Bust my fairing! - 5LV - 02-08-18 I used plastex for a split/break from rear of headlight. Did it 3 years ago and no problems at all. Re: Bust my fairing! - Andy W - 02-08-18 Thanks folks, I'll check out both methods - glad not to use fibreglass as I hate the stuff! Re: Bust my fairing! - Trebus - 02-08-18 Also had reasonable success with Plastech. Had it years and it still works with it being a 2 part liquid / powder Re: Bust my fairing! - Mustang - 02-08-18 Fibreglass no good it’s abs, try qbond Re: Bust my fairing! - 5LV - 02-08-18 (02-08-18, 12:42 PM)Trebus link Wrote: Also had reasonable success with Plastech.
