Is This Brake Lever Bent From Normal Shape?. - YamFazFan - 05-05-18
As per the title, does this original part brake lever look like the normal pattern to you or is it bent out of shape?.

The bikes just been on the deck while I was sat on it. Saved it most of the way so it was more a case of laying it down really.
Extremely minor scuffs/ scratches.
The lever reach feels the same and is less than the clutch on reach setting 1.
It's a job to remember what things looked like before!.

It's definitely bent, YamFazFan. I have just finished fitting a new clutch lever which was bent to the same degree.

Here you are - my unbent one and a side by side- although it has been over exactly the same as yours, I am surprised that would of bent it so much

Yeah so am I. I hung on with all my effort when it was past the point of no return in order to minimise the damage.

You're brake lever looks a different part to mine when you compare the two? (not just the bend, the casting)

[/quote]Yes I noticed that too, mine is defiantly OEM. I see yours is an 02-03 bike. Mine is one of the first 98s so maybe they used all the good stuff in the parts bins on the first bikes and ran out by the time it came to yours so they got the local nursery school kids to make some out of play dough :lol

You an see the scrape on the casing as the bike lay on a stone. The scrapes on the very side of the bars is from when I had to squeeze it down a narrow gap with a brick wall. the scrapes on the under side of the bars are from some very nice roundabouts

The bars wont help as much as a full set in a big off but are great for stupid little "lay downs" at 9 1/2 stone my "past the point of no return" is nearer than other people although no weakling I just do not have the counter balance. Whenever I wheel it about I always make sure since then that it is leaning to me and not upright.

It was so strange. I was sat on the bike in the driveway waiting for a gap in the traffic and it felt like an invisible force was pulling the bike over!.
I'm not all that much heavier than you and I did wonder how big a part that plays in these situations.

If your standing along side the bike and it's gone past a certain point falling away from you there is no stopping it, try as hard as you may it will pull you right over the top. About 14 stone at the time and it pulled me right over the saddle, I fought it as hard as I could, but, alas it was strain and a wasted effort. :'(

On a hill rolled forward off the side stand as I was taking a lovely picture of it with the roling countryside in the background--- too rolling for my liking

You fellas were right. The lever was bent.
The new OE one arrived yesterday from Fowlers.
Other than removing the nut and unscrewing the pivot bolt, is there anything else to watch out for when removing/replacing?.
