Master cylinder seal - reaper1064 - 29-03-18

Hi guys noticed that the cap on my master cylinder has got a weep, looked around but can't seem to locate a seal. Any pointers would be welcome.

Remove the two screws, remove cap do not turn it upside down & place on kitchen paper, place a rag around reservoir & remove rubber seal place on paper then wipe around top edge of res. Check brake fluid level is not overfilled.
Clean rubber seal check condition & clean cap of all fluid, rebuild but don't lean on the screws to much they only need to be snug, wipe around cap then keep an eye on it, you may not need a new seal. Smile

Yeah it's most likely over filled. Did you put new pads in recently?

Re: Master cylinder seal - reaper1064 - 31-03-18

Not touched it scince I bought it, was going to change the fluid when I changed the lines.

only asked in case you had pushed the pistons back into the caliper for new pads. if the system is over filled when you push the pistons in the fluid would come out at that cap

What the problem sometimes is, is that if the cap has been removed previously & is put down upside down the fluid lays in the cap & the seal & if it's not dried out when the cap is put back on the reservoir it leaks out around between the cap/seal. Smile
