Petrol Tank Question - HarryHornby - 17-02-18

When taking the tank off today I went to remove the fuel pipe.  I opened up the clip with some pliers and pulled the pipe and the whole metal tube it came out of the bottom of the tank rather than just rubber tube coming off.

Do I just push this little connector back in or should I glue it?  Has anyone else had this happen?  It's a first for me I must say.

the brass insert came out ????
ok thats a new one to me
erm let me get back to you on that

Re: Petrol Tank Question - Disorderlypunk - 17-02-18

might get away with smearing it with some liquid metal and sliding it back in place
im not pulling mine apart to check if that will work as it might need a new fueltap

Re: Petrol Tank Question - HarryHornby - 17-02-18

It was a new one on me too LOL

Cheers for the replies

I've pushed it back in and it seems tight but I'll go look for some metal glue.  The tap was quite grubby,  I've cleaned it up and will keep an eye on it.  I'm wondering if it's got a slow leak on it so it might be time for another tap.  Looks easy enough to fit, I think even I can do that!  :lol

I see you can buy fuel tap repair kit.  Has anyone done this?  Would you recommend giving it a go?

Re: Petrol Tank Question - Disorderlypunk - 17-02-18

only if its leaking from the tap or the sealing joint, it doesnt have anything in that will fix the brass pipe problem
if your replacing the tap in the future it cant hurt to have one nearby as they are less than a tenner and saves being off the road for a few more days

glue it back in they are more than likely bonded in when made up if it dont leak then jobs a good one
