Seeing a ghost..... - Dudeofrude - 28-08-17

I've just had the missus moaning at me for a McDonald's so i jumped in the car to pick one up and on my travels I come to a T junction. Turning right out of the junction comes a beautiful custom Honda Fireblade, i thought to myself how nice it looked then went about my business. Anyway the trip was only a mile or so each way so within 10 mins I was back at the T-junction turning the same way the bike went previously. In the distance I see flashing blue lights. As I approach a police officer ushers me onto the wrong side of the road. I look towards the path to the left and to my dismay see the Honda in pieces followed by a BMW with a big dent and the rider laying in the road Sad  The ambulance was coming down the road just as I got past.
Has given me a very unsettled feeling seeing it go from all good to all bad so quickly. I know we all understand the risks of riding but just strange when it comes into reality.  I really hope the riders ok and will certainly be on my mind the next time I'm out riding

Hope he's back up and riding again soon.

There is a clear danger but most of the time it's avoided. I don't know a lot of statistics about crashes. But I'm guessing driver error of the cars involved are more to blame. I'm going to get shot for this comment but I think the vast majority of bikers I've seen are pretty sensible. Yeah throttle gets opened but not crazily and when and where is deemed a safe place to do it. There are the few that are balls out everywhere they go.

I did a speed awareness course last month ( btw going thru roadworks too fast in a car ) couple of things stuck in my mind the statistics 5 riders a day ( 2016 figures ) injured, and just why junctions are so dangerous. I hope the guy recovers asap,

If I'm not mistaken i think the majority of motorcycle accidents are caused by the rider misjudging a corner. Followed by the smidsy's.

Strange how the same 3 makes of car always at the top of the list for bad driving guess it depends where you live as to what order they are in. round here it's Merc Audi then BMW, tied for third place with Range Rovers/discovery bullies. Hope the rider is soon back in the saddle.

Re: Seeing a ghost..... - tommyardin - 02-09-17

tommyardin = Merc SLK driver  :rollin keep out of my foccing way.

Get my own back when I'm in my 4x4 on Mercs, Audis,  BMWs AND F**king RangeRovers/Discoveries I don't take prisoners if they try pulling the crazy stunts they pull when I'm on the bike :evil :rollin

A Biker in a Cage, getting his own back on the Cagers! That makes perfect sense. Smile

It might be childish, but f*****g satisfying. Living in a small town it's the usual faces pulling the crazy stunts and I have a good memory for faces.

Not childish - while the cager THINKS they are being clever by cutting us (very vulnerable) bikers up, they are infact gambling with our lives!!  Confusedtop

No I haven't which is a good thing I suppose. I've been keeping an eye on the local paper as they usually report that kind of thing if it's serious
