Fuel tap ? - 59viper - 21-05-17

:rolleyes  Not new to bikes but new to fazers, i have a 99 model 600 and cant find a fuel tap anywhere. I downloaded the manual on here which says it is below the tank but i cant find it, help :'(

You have to lift the front of the tank up and then you can see it at the very back of the tank.

:eek WHAT? Really? So no reserve then, how many miles do you get after the dash light comes on ? Can't believe it

No reserve in that sense. You have a fuel gauge and a warning light instead. Theres officially about 2.5 litres left when the light comes on. Enough for 20+ miles if you take it steady.

I normally do about 35 miles after first time low fuel light comes on before I start to worry and have done over 50 miles but wouldn't recommend it. 

To fuel pumps don't like running dry so anything with a fuel pump tends not to have a reserve but gets a low fuel light instead.

Fuel taps are a thing of the past as said-modern systems electric fuel pumps dont like running "dry". The one fitted to base of tank is very useful whenever you wish to remove tank from bike for access. Be aware that a full tank is pretty heavy especially on the later incarnations (22 litre capacity).
