Knocking from chain, worse when turning - kgjersda - 15-05-17 So the bike has developed a knocking-"feel" from the chain, and it gets worse whenever I turn hard left/right in slow speeds. Could it be anything other than the need for a new chain? Yep you've got a tight spot, if you can hear it while riding the chain has had it. [/quote] it could also be that your chain is too slacked, try giving it a good clean & adjust it properly as well as lubing before going down the route of getting new chain & Sprockets. Re: Knocking from chain, worse when turning - kgjersda - 15-05-17 Could it be that the chain is too tight? I know it's not too loose, but perhaps I tightened it too much... Re: Knocking from chain, worse when turning - Drezza - 15-05-17 Check the free-play is within the specified tolerance. (can't remember what it is off the top of my head). Re: Knocking from chain, worse when turning - midden - 15-05-17 If when leaning left check front sprocket hasn't come loose Re: Knocking from chain, worse when turning - kgjersda - 15-05-17 Last time I adjusted the chain I didn't do it properly... I just picked a spot and began adjusting to roughly 30-40mm. I now found the tightest part of the chain and measured, it was 20mm :O Adjusted it to 35mm, sound is gone ![]() But there probably is a tight spot somewhere along the chain, and one o-ring on the master link has been damaged, so it's leaking red stuff from it :/ Probably due for a new chain anyway. X Ring chain & sprocket kit, they're very good, tried and tested, and if looked after will last a very long time. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-FZS-600-FAZER-1998-2003-DID-X-RING-CHAIN-SPROCKET-KIT-X-Ring-FZS600-/400676831619?hash=item5d4a334183:m:m0zYRLEELbgh_F03D5-UADg |
