RI SPROCKET? - johnakay - 14-05-17 I can't get a sprocket 1 tooth bigger (17 tooth) for my tracer 700 which is the same as the MT-07. standard tooth is 16. I can how ever get a R1 17 tooth sprocket which is the same except its slightly narrower . the thicker part..... the MT-07 is 11.0mm ---R1 10.8mm the MT-07 chain 525 R1 530 would this make any difference?? hopefully someone can help me on this, even if the above is not suitable maybe you'll know where I can get it. in the usa I can get it but postage combine comes to £60 or more . how can they justify £32 postage??. Re: RI SPROCKET? - JKay - 14-05-17 Try b and c express in Lincolnshire Re: RI SPROCKET? - Fazerider - 15-05-17 I suppose the narrower sprocket will wear fractionally quicker, but otherwise it won't make any difference. If you try pushing the chain from side to side on the current sprocket you'll find there's a fair bit of play anyway. Re: RI SPROCKET? - Tmation - 15-05-17 Your bike has a different size chain to the R1, the pitch between the teeth is different and the chin wont fit. You can order one from the states off ebay if you can't find one in the UK http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pro-tek-Yamaha-Front-Sprocket-525-Pitch-2014-2015-2016-2017-MT07-MT09-MT10-17T-/201908530779?hash=item2f02afae5b:g:v3cAAOSw~y9ZArWd Or fit rear sprocket wth 3 less teeth for the same affect Re: RI SPROCKET? - pilninggas - 15-05-17 FZ07 sprocket [likely to be the same as the 700 tracer, fz07 american model designation for the mt07]: http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/model/2763 FZ8 sprocket: http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/model/2788 looking on the bay, there are 17t 525 sprockets for the FZ8, but they are in the US: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pro-tek-Yamaha-Front-Sprocket-525-Pitch-2010-2011-2012-2013-2014-20015-FZ8-17T-/192171148326?hash=item2cbe4b0426:g:JcAAAOSww5NZArZS I'd call MR Motorcycles in Bristol, explain the situation and see if he can cross reference like I did. He might have something on the shelf from another manufacturer (e.g. some Honda stuff fits yamaha front sprocket splines). HTH Re: RI SPROCKET? - midden - 15-05-17 If 1 tooth warrants the hassle won't the R1 front sprocket fit as well? Re: RI SPROCKET? - johnakay - 15-05-17 thanks for the replies. thats what I like about this forum good bunch of guys helping this ol git out. nothing changed over the years. when I had my FAZER 600(03) I was always looking for that 7th gear if you know what I mean the engine was alway busy putting a 1 tooth bigger on the from transformed my fazer. a little less revs seem to smooth things out and n searching for that illusive gear. not notice any difference in accelerating but what I did notice got better mpg. bought the sprocket. so hopefully this will iron my little niggles. I'm not a fast rider, left all that behind and if anyone want to go fast I just let them get on with it. I wont even attempt to keep up. more often than not ...he didn't get very far.lol beside I've got my good lady on the back and the last thing I want to do is frighten her. its nice to come home saying to myself that was a good ride instead phew that f**ing close..... once again thanks |
