Helmet cam mounting - mrMoog - 12-05-17 I've seen the thread from last year where it got a bit heated with salad eating etc so thought it best I start a new topic. If there is another topic just like this then I do apologize and would welcome me being linked to it. I use my bike every day whatever the weather to commute 7 miles each way between Morecambe (live) to Lancaster (work) So after speaking with the wife we agreed it would be a good idea to get myself a helmet camera. Now I know I am not perfect and I do make mistakes but generally speaking I think I ride safely however if I was in an accident and it wasn't my fault then video footage would hopefully help my case. The camera is nothing special, cost me £20 off ebay and I have a 16gb micro SD card which lasts an hour or so of recording. every couple of days I take the camera off the helmet to recharge and wipe the SD card clean, very simple no inconvenience at all. I do upload to Youtube but it is not to point the finger at crap drivers or to name and shame, I use my ride out footage to accompany my music I create (other hobby) rather than just focusing on me playing my Synths and drum machine, I think it makes more a more pleasant video for the viewer. Anyway the reason I started this is to ask if any of you have managed to successfully mount a camera onto your helmet without any issues? Is there any mounting kits out there you know of? I have mine attached with gaffer tape and velcro straps, sure it looks a mess but as it's my old lid from when I first started riding a couple of years ago I am not too bothered but I am currently looking into buying a better helmet and wouldn't want it to look like this. To be honest other than the way it look it works an absolute treat ![]() Re: Helmet cam mounting - Shappaeye - 12-05-17 I have a Drift Stealth 2 and the free helmet mount out of the box is superb, rock solid. I ride through all weathers and temperatures so it gets a beating. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/183438?r=GS&gclid=CKK9p5GO6tMCFYSd7QodZTgFNw Re: Helmet cam mounting - Fazer99 - 12-05-17 I have an SJ4000 and it comes with a load of different mounting equiptment. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161892490692?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I have it mounted on the chin area of my lid using the adhesive pads that came with it and a couple of the brackets. However, I did re-enforce the stickiness with hot glue just to play it safe. Re: Helmet cam mounting - Frosties - 12-05-17 Link to a previous thread fella - good luck http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,18801.msg217035.html#msg217035 Re: Helmet cam mounting - Fazer99 - 12-05-17 (12-05-17, 03:46 PM)Fazer99 link Wrote: I have an SJ4000 and it comes with a load of different mounting equiptment. Re: Helmet cam mounting - Fazer99 - 12-05-17 Don't know why the pics have gon upside down, if anyone can fix them then please do. Re: Helmet cam mounting - mrMoog - 14-05-17 Thanks for the responses, I just turned my laptop upside down to get a good idea of the mounting ha. The camera I have is what I will be keeping but from the responses it looks like sticky pads and a bit of glue is the way forward for me, I was just concerned the pads wouldn't be enough but it seems they are. Might use my hot glue gun too just to be sure. When I have a new lid and the camera is mounted I shall upload here. Again thanks, Re: Helmet cam mounting - Frosties - 06-06-17 Hiya Moog, Seen as my camera has just died and I'm looking at the same as yours to replace it - was just wondering if you have any video clips you can post up :thumbup Re: Helmet cam mounting - celticbiker - 07-06-17 I have mine mounted on the back/top looking over the helmet using a 3m adhesive pad. I purchased about 20 pads and mounts for about 2.50 gbp on eBay. Picture and video from the camera. ![]() https://youtu.be/rWmUxUbwkXw Re: Helmet cam mounting - johnakay - 07-06-17 I'm wary of having anything attached to my helmet. I have mine mounted to my handle bar. yeah it shake a little but its fine watching it on the pc. ![]() Re: Helmet cam mounting - mrMoog - 09-06-17 (06-06-17, 08:08 PM)Frosties link Wrote: Hiya Moog, Sure this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9QPiN5-OfI is the latest video I have uploaded recently of one of my rideouts to Devils bridge. helmet cam footage starts at 1min 22. Bit of a shameless plug of my music too, apologies if the music is a bit crap to your ears. In my opinion the camera quality is ok for what I need and can be switched between 720 + 1080p. The mic on it however is rubbish so bear that in mind if you want decent sound. ![]() Re: Helmet cam mounting - mrMoog - 09-06-17 Hmm, Tried linking a youtube vid but I cannot see it for some reason, maybe others can? Or it might just take a while to show? Re: Helmet cam mounting - seangee - 09-06-17 3M pads are just fine. I moved mine onto the fairing to stop getting my speedo in shot :evil and when I realised I kept filming me putting my pin into the machine when I paid for petrol. Last one stayed in place for 3 years of daily use until I sold the bike. Re: Helmet cam mounting - Frosties - 09-06-17 Quality good enough for me fella, cheers. Ordered via Amazon prime - arrives Sunday :thumbup |
