I know the early ones are anodised and I'd be surprised if they went to paint after, if you're thinking about polishing it then smear some paint stripper on one part and oven cleaner on another, will show you which finish is on it.

I remember from reading on here somewhere that it is anodised and is a real arse to get down to metal to polish and i think the foc'er wished they had not started. I also think that once it is polished that it is going to be a problem to keep that way due to all that is attached to it and round the back - and so on, what about just doing the flat side that faces out.

You can remove the coating using oven cleaner, spray on, wait for it to start turning black, wipe off, repeat, be patient.

As for the flat side, this isn't exactly flat, and getting into the corner with wet and dry etc etc to remove all trace's of anodizing is a proper twat of a job. I did the side and top and it looks OK just remember you'll need several tins of elbow grease.

I can't remember the name of them but you can get grit impregnated soaps that would help get into corners, used like an eraser they are great for jobs like that or flattening out deep scratches.

I don't want to remove the anodised coat, way too much elbow grease and sweat involved for life.  I just figured if it was paint then I could rain it to tidy it up a little..........even then that's on the if I can be arsed list  :rollin
