Stripped output shaft... - dcurzon - 29-03-17 My 90k old '99 was making the odd rattle, so today, having just shelled out on tyres, I decided to check, and look and behold, the front sprocket nut had spun loose and Stripped the shaft. (Yes it was the newer type nut). Options? Or break the bike? It's my work horse :/ Re: Stripped output shaft... - darrsi - 29-03-17 For info purposes, d'ya know what Nm the nut was torqued at, and was it Loctite'd? Re: Stripped output shaft... - fazersharp - 29-03-17 I have seen people on here weld the sprocket on Re: Stripped output shaft... - Fazerider - 29-03-17 Yes, just weld the nut on. It's what I've done to mine. Sounds barbaric, but it does the job and when the C&S needs changing you can cut the weld with an angle grinder and reweld afterwards. Re: Stripped output shaft... - dcurzon - 29-03-17 I'll get a mobile welder type guy to blob it on. It was torqued to FT, and the Luckington tab was in place Re: Stripped output shaft... - Disorderlypunk - 30-03-17 if you decide to break the bike get in touch with me i will have the wheels and tyres of you in a heartbeat -dont need wheels but tyres i do lol Re: Stripped output shaft... - HydrocarbonPrimate - 14-04-17 I read somewhere Yamaha would put them right if they chewed the shaft, I don't know if it applies to 2nd hand bikes but worth a try, I'd call yamaha national office first a local dealer will probably tell you no because they won't want to do it unless it comes from upstairs. That's what that sounded like! Re: Stripped output shaft... - Disorderlypunk - 15-04-17 i was pissed im skint and need new tyres lol got em now though how you know i have a nose ring - but if i get hit by a bus yes its yours -lol (ooh yeah just realised with a name like disorderly punk it was a high chance i had one lol) Re: Stripped output shaft... - dcurzon - 24-04-17 Had it welded up by local bike shop, lasted a couple more weeks but the weld didn't hold. Can't be bothered with it now, so she'll be up for sale. Plus points: Properly fitted HID projectors (new bulbs recently fitted) Plus spare stock headlight 2014 r6 shock Pr4 front 500 miles Bt23 rear 750 miles Givi rack Bar risers Heated grips (worn but work) SS exhaust K&N air filter Couple of months mot remaining. Bad points: Stripped output shaft. Engine has 90k but has been as good as gold. I'm the 2nd owner and always used k&n air and oil filters and regular oil changes. Re: Stripped output shaft... - fazersharp - 24-04-17 Hmmm stainless steel exhaust you say ![]() Re: Stripped output shaft... - Drezza - 24-04-17 Price and location for whole bike? Re: Stripped output shaft... - dcurzon - 24-04-17 I dont really want the hassle of parting it out. If someone wants it at 450 they can take it. Bring a welder and happy for you to weld the nut on and have a cuppa and ride it away, or bring a van or trailer. Or risk riding it as is.
