FZ1 decal on fairing - Carlsv8 - 13-02-17

Gents
Looking at an 05 thou for sale with FZ1 on the fairing, not Fazer. I'm sure that I read somewhere that this was the American model, does that mean it is restricted or different in any way other than cosmetics ?
Cheers
Carl

I don't believe the US model is any different to the UK model other than the stickers and perhaps reflectors on the forks. I believe that it was only the French bikes that were restricted to 100BHP. Oh and They drive on the wrong side of the road over there so the headlight might be dipped to the wrong direction unless this has been addressed by the current or previous UK owner.

Re: FZ1 decal on fairing - Tmation - 13-02-17

I have a US import and there are a few differences.

The wiring for the indicators would have been modded by the importer/dealer as they are on all the time (running lights) in the US and flash off, the indicators are also larger thanUK model.

There is no headlamp flasher/pass light switch and no hazard switch. I have tried to change the switch gear but is is not plug and play as the wiring loom is different. It can be done but takes a bit of electrical knowledge and work.

The headlamps beam is flat on dip so no issues with MOT etc.

Other than the colour schemes, decals and a few extra reflectors there is not much more different.

I have had my 2004 from new and no issues getting spare parts or accessories etc.

Here is mine

Re: FZ1 decal on fairing - unfazed - 13-02-17

Could also have come from Norway/Swedan area, as a food companies name  had the rights to the Fazer name,  USA was the same some company had the rights to the Fazer name.

Check the under seat code and post it on here then we can tell you exactly where it came from.

Done a bit of digging and it was originally registered near Peterborough., number plate AE****, I wonder if one of the bigger shops there imported a few.

That's the first time I've noticed FZ1 on your bike, which is strange cause I've seen that pic enough times. great looking bike mate.

Could well be,  there was a dealership in Peterborough called Taz Motorcycles that specialised in imports and they were around at the relevant time.
