Tyres? - DangerNoodle - 22-01-17

I'm planning on buying new rubber pretty soon and I was wondering what everyone here tends to go for? I'm currently considering Dunlop Roadsmart 3's since they seem to have very good reviews. Also does anyone use a non stock profile for their tyres?

Hiya fella,

You;re not getting many replies because "which tyres" has been battered to death on this site. You will find lots of results if you use the "search" tab at the top.

For what it's worth, I'm with Michelin PR3....... or you can run a PR3 front and PR4 rear (no 110 section PR4 available) - can't fault them and won't be swayed to anything else as a 365 rider.

Good luck  :thumbup

Nope and won't - unless i find a need to do 7000 miles in a straight line on a cruiser or genuinely go off road. Just my 2p....

Yep I think you're right Frosties, you can pick them up cheap tho'. So what's the best budget tyre? Has anyone tried Maxxis?

Maxxis are OK judging from the couple I've had on previous bikes. Actually I do tend to 7000 miles in a straight line so maybe I'll investigate Shinkos.

Re: Tyres? - Chris - 01-02-17

I've got a set of Bridgestone T30 Evo's on just now and they're really nice. I prefer them to the Bridgestone 021's I had on before.

I have the T30 on the rear and a BT023 on the front and i really like the combination.

Re: Tyres? - Chris - 01-02-17

I've never been brave enough to mix and match! haha!

I honestly picked the T30 because I preferred the look of the tread pattern but also the reviews it was getting.

Funnily enough i don't remember ever having tyres that were paired before in years of riding?
I've read reviews before where one has been good but the other not so good so i've always bought front at back at different times.
The T30 was the most decent tyre available when i had a puncture one day, and i got a bit mugged off when buying it but had no choice although i'm glad i bought it as i've found it good in all weathers, and the front BT023 has a deeper tread than normal which i really like as well.

Re: Tyres? - fazersharp - 01-02-17

I too don't think I have ever had a matching set. I don't do the miles to wear them down quick enough and whenever I have needed one - say for the front they have dropped the model of my back so I get the latest one for the front and by the time I am ready for the back they have replaced the model of the front I had.
Every time they bring a new one out its their "best yet" more grip more wear, are they really all that different to the ones that were about 2 years ago that were then "the best yet"

Re: Tyres? - Chris - 01-02-17

I was pretty tempted by the S20 but felt it was maybe on the sportier side for the kind of riding I do... Having said that I might try them next. It's quite rare that I ride in anything other than nice weather and sunday blasts so will see what's available when I replace the T30.

Re: Tyres? - Bretty - 02-02-17

I'm sticking with the tyres I've got now. (which hasn't changed in 8 "which tyres?" threads)

Re: Tyres? - crickleymal - 02-02-17

I did a bit of googling and those Shinko tyres don't seem to be significantly cheaper than anything else, you could get a Pirelli for roughly the same price.
