Handlebar wobble at speed - b1k3rdude - 30-11-16 Even though I have devileyam R6 shock fitted I am getting a wobble from the handle bars while accelerating at high speed. Is there a relatively simple way to reduce or better, cure this without going down the steering damper route..? Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - b1k3rdude - 01-12-16 More info -
Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - Graham53 - 01-12-16 Have you dropped the yokes down the forks or if so how much ? I got similar on my foxeye 600 when I fitted a jack up kit and dropped the yokes , I raised the forks back to normal and it cured it. Not sure if it is correct but I was told that dropping yokes quickens the steering but reduces high speed stability. Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - b1k3rdude - 01-12-16 Forks have not been dropped through. Pilot road 2's are good tyres but I wonder if they are part responsible for the wobble... Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - red98 - 01-12-16 Had the same wobble on maximum acceleration ![]() Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - Graham53 - 01-12-16 If yokes at normal height the only other things I could think of might be , wheel bearings , wheel balance and as previously said tyre pressures Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - b1k3rdude - 06-12-16 Checked TP's and they were both below normal, corrected that and the wobble is mostly cured. I can still make it 'wibble' at speed or under acceleration, and I am fairly sure the swing arm bears are fine (there were last MOT and the bike hasnt done much miles since then. Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - red98 - 07-12-16 How many miles since last checking the pressures ? Could be unusual tyre wear due to incorrect pressures....I would run it as it is for a couple of hundred miles until the tyres are wearing normally. .....strange things tyres Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - ram - 07-12-16 are the balance weights still on? i lost one of mine once with a pressure washer Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - b1k3rdude - 08-12-16 (07-12-16, 07:38 AM)red98 link Wrote: How many miles since last checking the pressures ? Could be unusual tyre wear due to incorrect pressures....I would run it as it is for a couple of hundred miles until the tyres are wearing normally. .....strange things tyresI normally check once a week, but forgot None of the FZS1000's I have owned have never what I would call rock sold full stable at speed or under high speed acceleration, and this was confirmed when I bought a 1200 bandit. which is like a tank when it comes to high speed stability and wind protection when compared to the FZS. Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - devilsyam - 08-12-16 try this ==under hard acceleration the rear is loaded hence the swinging arm bearing post which is a good line to follow mots look for excess play only small play is undetected till loaded also try going up 1 click on preload this will make the rear harder and place load on the front worth a go Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - b1k3rdude - 09-12-16 (08-12-16, 10:49 PM)devilsyam link Wrote:
Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - devilsyam - 09-12-16 i have used the ones from simply bearings of ebay but try the preload as its free to do before buying bearings Re: Handlebar wobble at speed - b1k3rdude - 09-12-16 (09-12-16, 09:56 PM)devilsyam link Wrote: i have used the ones from simply bearings of ebay but try the preload as its free to do before buying bearingsTa and will do. |
