Re: Low emission zone London question - red98 - 29-11-16

Work in london a fair bit, works car is registered so I dont have to do anything, if I go on the bike theres no charge as bikes exempt. .....
.good news for you is the charge is not in operation at weekends    Smile    have a good weekend  :thumbup

Re: Low emission zone London question - red98 - 29-11-16

DOH....gave you the wrong answer    :o ....low emmision charges only apply to diesel hgv / vans etc...so , no charge for your Eunos

so, no congestion charge and no emmision charge  Smile  parking for a car is expensive though, working in holborn last friday and i paid £30 for 2 hrs parking  :eek ....was actually 2hr 9 mins but the guy let me off, would have been another £9......

Re: Low emission zone London question - locksmith - 29-11-16

I'm no expert on the subject, but I cant see a 1998 car being ultra low emmissions and avoiding the congestion charges?

Pay here https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge/paying-the-congestion-charge

Re: Low emission zone London question - red98 - 29-11-16

:lol  Locksmith , that links for the congestion charge , same mistake I made  :rollin ....iam no expert either but i do go into london a fair bit for work , iam pretty sure the emmision charge is for trucks only...i use an elderly V70 and dont pay a penny....

good old....RIP OFF BRITAIN    :rolleyes

Re: Low emission zone London question - celticdog - 29-11-16

Crikey those prices are extortionate for a northern lad like me  :eek

Re: Low emission zone London question - Bretty - 29-11-16

You'll be fine. Drive through London all weekend and pay nothing. On street free parking can also generally be found in most places at the weekend. Where you going? ~roughly.

Thanks for replies
stopping in a hostel in west London, nothing special, my brother and I just wanted a couple of nights /days in the smoke, bit of sight seeing and a few beers etc

Re: Low emission zone London question - Frosties - 29-11-16

You can park free on the streets from 1pm (or noon) Saturday (including meters & pay 'n' display bays) and all day Sunday  :thumbup

HOW MUCH, to park ,  5uck that I get charged 1 pound in saundersfoot and I moan about that.    good luck lads. :\

Re: Low emission zone London question - robbo - 02-12-16

Yeah the LEZ has put quite a lot of people out of work as they were unable to afford to upgrade vans and trucks to be compliant. I imagine cities like Liverpool, Manchester, Southampton etc won't be far behind.

Re: Low emission zone London question - darrsi - 02-12-16

If your going on the lash as well, better off parking up outside of central, get a MUCH cheaper hotel, and use public transport every day.
You will need an Oyster Card, or just buy a one day travel card.

Re: Low emission zone London question - taylor - 02-12-16

can you get tuck tuck, or a rickshaw.  for vely cheap.

Re: Low emission zone London question - robbo - 02-12-16

You can get a rickshaw but they're foccing expensive.Like £1 a metre.

Re: Low emission zone London question - darrsi - 02-12-16

When i say park outside central, i mean well outside.
I live in Harrow and we're talking 30 minutes on the tube for about 12 miles away from the West End.

Re: Low emission zone London question - Bretty - 03-12-16

I'm in zone 2. Plenty of free onstreet parking near me all weekend.
Have a look on google maps around where you are staying. On street view you can read the parking signs and see where is free.

Re: Low emission zone London question - joebloggs - 03-12-16

Off street parking at hostel is £5 pr day, not to bad, car was free from emission charges so apart from extortionate price of beer its not cost me too much.... Yet

Re: Low emission zone London question - taylor - 03-12-16

so how much is a pint of lager,  ?  I pay 310, for grolsh,  and a bottle of okay house wine is 6,40,  the wine just went up from 6.00.  the most expensive wine is 14, a bottle.
