Stiff clutch lever after Lever change? - Tubz1983 - 04-11-16 Tryed to swap the lever for an after market but only the brake fits, anyhow i took off the Clutch lever intially before i realised and then had to put it back, now it is stiff to pull when the engine is off in the garage, at least stiffer than before ? Feels ok when on the road, possible odd smell though? But tbh it has been raining and could just be water evaporating off engine parts.... Re: Stiff clutch lever after Lever change? - darrsi - 05-11-16 Look at a manual and adjust your clutch properly, which will involve screwing in the cable cover part by the wheel at the top, adjusting the bottom end, then tweaking the top again for correct play. I managed to get myself a syringe with an angled needle on it which is absolutely ideal for oiling the inside of a clutch cable as well, which can help a lot for older cables. I leave the handlebars on right hand lock with the bike on the centre stand to let the oil slowly drip down over night. When they're newish they shouldn't need any lubing at all though. Re: Stiff clutch lever after Lever change? - Tubz1983 - 05-11-16 That is my plan for tomorow, hopefully it will bd sorted Re: Stiff clutch lever after Lever change? - His Dudeness - 05-11-16 Did you adjust the cable when you were fitting the new lever? If not I'd be thinking the problem is more likely with the lever. Definitely start with the lever and make sure that's working properly before you adjust the cable. Re: Stiff clutch lever after Lever change? - mtread - 05-11-16 :agree If it was good before and now it's not, look first at what's different - the lever. Are you sure you've put it back exactly how it was? How much did you slacken to get the lever off? Is it back the same number of turns? Have you put the adjuster back the right way round? Is the cable moving freely? etc etc Re: Stiff clutch lever after Lever change? - slappy - 05-11-16 Disconnect the cable from the lever, if it is still stiff then it is the lever, if not then it is the cable. |
