Lcd display gorn - The Yooge - 30-10-16

Hi, I bought my 2002 FZS 1 a couple months ago, the lcd screen on instrument cluster was blank (service and mot history told me the mileage) anyone any ideas if this can be fixed or is it going to be a whole new unit? Enjoying this excellent dry year on the roads!

Don't have one of those (FZS600 here) but have you checked that there is power to the LCD unit for starters?
Must have a multi pin plug that goes in the bottom of the beastie somewhere, stick a multi meter on it. Does it illuminate when the lights are on, if not might just have come unplugged. Worth a look.  :rolleyes

Thanks Tommy, dash lights are on, everything else works fine, I'm no sparky but I may have to open it up to see if there's anything amiss.

Check the backup fuse

Re: Lcd display gorn - The Yooge - 02-11-16

Not fuses, they're all ok, had thought it may be the ignition barrel but all other parts of clocks work fine. Any other ideas?

Re: Lcd display gorn - unfazed - 02-11-16

Take off the screen an unplug the connector to the clocks and check for 12 volts on two wires

The red/green which should have 12 volts all the time (fed from the Backup fuse) and keeps the clock time and trip meters from resetting
The brown which should only have 12 volts with the ignition switched on.

If there is power on both of these then it is an internal issue in the clocks which could even be something as simple as a dry solder joint.

If you are brave enough to take the clocks apart I could tell you what to check before you consign then to the bin.
