thought I'd look at the exup today..mistake !! rotten to the core.. don't think it's ever been serviced..servo works tho
but cables don't budge at valve end..was expecting to drill out cover bolts coz even with blow torch and wd40 they wasn't budging..
do I go for exup eliminator ??

had a real good look around the exhaust while messin with exup..the rear mounting bracket for the pipes gotta crack in it all the way through :'(
looks like pipes gotta come off ..might buy the black widow exhaust pipes (no exup on 'em) certainly be cheaper option I reckon..
I've looked at loads of the forums today for info and I'm more confused than ever !!

If you search Black Widow on this site you'll see the general concensus of opinion. Personally I'd take on board any recommendations made by Falcon 269. If your headers are that bad, I'd advertise for a used set complete with exup valve.

Now I realise why my plugs were running a bit rich !!!

if you have a gas axe(blow torch) use a centre punch while its glowing red to put a dint in the stud that wont budge as central as possible,use this to keep the drill from moving all over when attempting to drill it out,heat it up till it glowing again and try drilling it on a slow speed(so you dont get red hot swarf on you) using a smaller drill bit 3mm say,then reheat until red and go to a 4mm,i think the studs are 5mm,but im not certain
you might get lucky,ive done something similar on a snapped caliper bolt on my bmw that (ahem) was too rusted in to remove and i needed a new part!

rear mount cracking is common and no issue.
exup bolts oth need a good soaking and inevitably you will snap one.............or more.
do not, on any account, buy a non exup pipe unless its from a well respected manufacturer with a racing pedigree to back up the bull (happy now Tmation)

There is sufficient metal there to take a slightly larger bolt if the drilling out goes askew.

Thank you for the advice guys
got radiator off today to check it out ..ready for ais removal / valve check /etc..took a look at the header nuts etc ..debating whether to get em off while she's laid up for a while and get my mate to
fabricate a rear bracket..
The exup is soaking in penetrating fluid till the weekend luckily Tex has a spare if mine is totally focced..

No factually correct, Holeshot (Dale Walker), Hindle and some Japanese make whose name escapes me also make (made) good headers for the Gen 1.

best buy for ages.. went to Tool Station got 3mm and 4.5mm Cobalt drill to drill for the bolt that was seized on exup..
With a little lube from wd49 they absolutely devoured the bolt in the exhaust..Just waiting for the tap to arrive and
tex's spare valve (bless him) and back on the road !!!

Finally fitted exup today (long story)all greased up and rotates between stops free n easy,I fitted the washer/spring assembly still spins nicely and then the bolt into the cable pulley but as I tighten that bolt the valve stops rotating freely as if the spring is crushing into the flat washer..if I ease back on the bolt the she spins freely again..should it rotate freely or not at this stage???any ideas guys??

If you look at the inside of the end plate, there is a raised section where mine had worn like a ski jump....
The valve shoulder fouls against that.
Would work fine until it was tightened up - file a little of the proud section away (trial and error stylee) and Robert is your paternal sibling.

Rotate the valve until the plate sits cleanly before tightening, the shoulder is a stop for the valve
