Valve stem seals - MedLey - 23-08-16

I was wondering, if i would change valvle stem seals, will they help to reduse oil "eating" someone did this before? what was the results?

Why do you think it's the valve stem seals gone, have you done a full compression check, have you checked your air box and filter for signs of oil?

Get someone to follow you to see when, how or if it smoking.

Re: Valve stem seals - MedLey - 23-08-16

Engine starting with no problems, i skipped the piston rings, becouse i didint checked compression, but bike runs wine, dont feel lack of power, no oil in airbox (whats the reason if he shows there??) i read in russian fazer forum, there are alot of ppl with same problem, and they think it is normal Smile, i will try to change valve stem seals, but later in winter,

The crankcase vents into the air box, if you overfill your engine a bit with oil it can get pumped into the bottom of the air box.

I don't recall many people on here having trouble with valve stem oil seals.

Normally the sign for valve stem seals gone is a big puff of smoke from the exhaust when you open the throttle again after slowing for say a junction. Thats why I said get someone to follow you, I would get on a motorway or highway get the revs up to 7-8000rpm and cruise at that for half a mile or so (choose the appropriate gear for the speed limit). When approaching an exit shut the throttle and use engine braking to slow down to say 3000 rpm then grab a big handful of throttle. The person following may see wisps of smoke while the throttle is closed then a large puff as the throttle is opened.

Yes there is like a black smoke when i open a throtle. other thing i read, that bike dont like to be unridable, for big period of time, say 1 year, or more, that something happens with seals, anyway i dont have anything to loose, if i would change them, except money fot new gasket and seals, we dont riding in winter, so i will have plenty time Smile
