How big is this thing? - Yaytay - 10-07-16 Hello everyone, After a lifetime riding shafties I've finally succumbed to world of chains - I should be picking up a 2008 S2 next Saturday. My problem now, is where am I going to keep it - so it doesn't slowly rot like my Deauville? My plan is to build a shelter for it by the side of the porch, but I'm not sure there is enough space. If the bike is on the side stand how wide a gap does the rear metre of the bike need? Obviously I could just wait a week and try it out, but who has the patience for that??? And just how do I fit carpet to walls? Thanks. Jim Re: How big is this thing? - unfazed - 10-07-16 Bikes are like cats, If whiskers get through so will the cat, with a bike if handlebars and mirrors get through so will the rear :lol A few wooden battens screwed to the wall with the Carpet behind it will work :thumbup Re: How big is this thing? - Yaytay - 11-07-16 (10-07-16, 08:10 PM)unfazed link Wrote: Bikes are like cats, If whiskers get through so will the cat, with a bike if handlebars and mirrors get through so will the rear :lol Problem is that I know the handlebars won't fit, the plan is for them to stick out past the porch under an awning of some sort. Jim How big is this thing? - mickvp - 11-07-16 Probably just under 30" wide when on the side stand - if you don't need width to get down the side of it ![]() ![]() ..and yes, that's a dog shit on my rear tyre... Lovely ![]() Re: How big is this thing? - unfazed - 11-07-16 The rear of the S2 would be very narrow due to the under seat pipes and as MickVP says about 30"at the indicators with the next wide bit at the rider footrests. Re: How big is this thing? - mickvp - 11-07-16 That was my thinking too unfazed, probably slightly narrower than a gen 1 Re: How big is this thing? - Dave48 - 12-07-16 Once managed to get a H***a Goldwing (80s version) into my kitchen workshop. I saw the light & switched allegiance to YAMAHA-Result no problem getting the Fazer in But I suppose the simple answer would be to completely rebuild your house so you can have full "drive in " access! :lol Re: How big is this thing? - Yaytay - 12-07-16 Hmm, I have about 20" by the side of the porch, but the porch is only about 48" deep - so it's a question of how much will fit in that space. Also the limit is caused by a wall about 20" high, so above that I gain another 6". Thanks for the pictures - the only way to the back of our house is through the house so I may yet need to get the bike through the kitchen - though I think that may generate some complaints. Re: How big is this thing? - downey - 12-07-16 how bout one of these out front ,its called a bikehome or barn something like that Re: How big is this thing? - Yaytay - 13-07-16 You call a small girl a bikehome? Actually I like the thing in the background - I hate the straightforward tarp covers because they just keep the water on the bike, but that would solve that problem. From here, it seems: http://www.bike-home.co.uk/ If plan A doesn't work I think that's become plan B. Thanks. Re: How big is this thing? - downey - 13-07-16 :lol :lol well it was the only photo i could find ,,yes they are very handy and last once they are not totally exposed to HUGE winds ,u can also bolt it to the floor ,which helps :thumbup Re: How big is this thing? - Yaytay - 20-07-16 It doesn't fit. So the neighbour is moving their wall ![]() And I'm going to fit a bikehome in that space. So plan AB ![]() Jim Re: How big is this thing? - downey - 20-07-16 be sure to get the newer model its has slightly arched bars and so prents water lodging at the rear section plus its got slver galvanized bars rather than the white painted ones ,,,moving the wall ??? really ? Re: How big is this thing? - Grayo - 20-07-16 What about one of these ? http://www.secure-a-bike.com/prijslijst.html Re: How big is this thing? - Millietant - 02-08-16 FOC me ........ £2,000 for a tin shed !!!!!!! Sorry, not sure I'd go for that in value terms (but I'm a tight fit, so maybe/likely I'm wrong). |
