Chain rivet query - Shinigami - 27-06-16 Reeto, I've whacked a new set of sprockets and chain on the fz6, however the cheap peice of shit riveting too I had has apparently got a riveting bit that's softer than the rivet... so I've been trying to bash the rivet to flare it and used whatever i could find to do so, however i'm not sure how much is enough to not result in all of the death. Is the pic below flared enough? https://goo.gl/photos/TgjaqZhwjwGGyCb48 Re: Chain rivet query - Megawatt - 28-06-16 Looks good to me. I use two hammers when I rivet a link. Re: Chain rivet query - Shinigami - 28-06-16 the rivet end was a lot tougher and harder than I expected, had to give it a fair number of taps to get it like this.. is that normal? everything i tried to push in the hole to flare ended up worse off than the rivet end :rollin Re: Chain rivet query - Megawatt - 28-06-16 Yes some rivets don't have a big enough hole in the middle and don't flare out. I put a lump hammer behind the rivet link and tap the front with a ball pein hammer to flare it over just enough. Re: Chain rivet query - Shinigami - 03-07-16 they weren't flared enough, I went an acquired a digital caliper and a riveting pin from a motion pro tool and bodged it into my cheap chinese tool which did the job fine then :lol |
