Paint - Dustydes - 22-05-16 I new on hear and I'm looking to buy an fzs1000 2000/2002 Most of the bikes of that age suffer from the paint termites eating into the engine and cases Is it possible to get the Yamaha silver to re paint the parts? what code please. Also what should I be looking for apart from obvious, what sounds etc Des Re: Paint - PieEater - 22-05-16 Welcome Dustydes, See here for your first question - http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,20009.0.html The thread just under yours has a little of what you should look out for - http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,20153.0.html If you need to brush up on the EXUP valve have a look at Pat's service guide - http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/exupmaintenance.html Post back if you have any questions. Re: Paint - Dustydes - 22-05-16 Thanks PieEater Going to look at a 2002 one tomorrow fingers crossed its ok Exup valves I'm used to as I own an FZR1000 exup street fighter Des Re: Paint - PieEater - 22-05-16 Not really stuff to be wary of but worth bearing in mind. The rear OEM shock is a real weak point so if you can find a bike with a replacement fitted it could save you having to sort this out later. The Ivan's jet kit is a popular mod so buying a bike that has had this done would also be beneficial, if it's been Ivanised it should have an aftermarket can on but that's not a guarantee the works been done just a requirement for it to work properly. Hope it goes well tomorrow and do check the EXUP bolts and compression adjusters as folks have ignored this advice previously and had to cough up a fair chunk to sort the problems out afterwards. |
