S1000R test ride - sadlonelygit - 09-05-16 Took my mates fully tricked (but still in restricted mode) beastie for a ride. Firstly it's tiny. Secondly the crank has no mass so spins up phenomenally quickly. In dynamic pro mode!!!!!!! it's like taking a jack Russell for a walk. Getting a full power ride next weekend so we'll see if it's improved. Not a bike you would want to ride every day. Fazer felt like it was running on 3 after riding it though! Re: S1000R test ride - Red Ceri - 09-05-16 Test rode one about two years ago, full power, was mentalĀ :evilĀ but unbelievably easy to ride, decided it was too focused on removing my licence from my wallet but def on the list for my dream garage. Remember getting on my Gen1, with early R1 forks(about a 2 inch frt end drop), and thought I was on an adventure bike that steered like an ocean liner Re: S1000R test ride - tex - 09-05-16 Had a go on my mates r6 a while ago, at 6,2 I felt like I was on a mini moto! Re: S1000R test ride - SkidT - 09-05-16 I'm "fortunate" enough to have an S1000XR which has the same engine / power as the S1000R. It is an awesome machine with fantastic performance throughout the Rev range. Unfortunately, it's currently back with BMW, whilst they investigate the much talked about vibrations. The ones that make your fingers go numb after an hour or so, despite having already fitted heavier bar end weights. I've still got my Gen1 for the time being, which I took out for a decent ride on Sunday. It does feel a bit flat in comparison. That's no mean feat, bearing in mind mine has been "slip on Ivanised" and has a host of other goodies fitted. The Gen1's are still a quick bike. The Fazer is a lot more compliant though in the suspension department with Ohlins front and rear. The XR doesn't have a soft setting on the ESA suspension and as a consequence,is a little on the firm side. The Fazer does still makes me smile and for the money, I don't think there's anything else out there with the same all rounder talents matched with decent performance. I also happen to think they're still a good looking machine and have aged well.
