pond vacs - maddog04 - 22-04-16 to all the fish keepers on here, thinking of getting a pond vac.....decent not one of the cheap shite ones does anyone in the Liverpool area have one that I could borrow to try out before I commit to buying one.....even on ebay they're decent money so would like to try one first? cheers Re: pond vacs - esetest - 22-04-16 I bought one a few years back , cost over a £100 at the time , didn't do a very good job , and broke down within a couple of years , I get just as much crap out with a net at a fraction of the cost and about the same amount of effort . Re: pond vacs - maddog04 - 22-04-16 cheers mate got a fair bit of sludge as I have overhanging vegetation/dog n cat displace soil etc into the pond. Have tried scooping with a net but it just sends the water into meltdown for a few days where I can't see foc all and the fish must get stressed with it, hence the vac idea Re: pond vacs - dazza - 22-04-16 Because being sucked up a vacuum pipe must be quite relaxing, I would imagine......if you're a fish :rolleyes Re: pond vacs - esetest - 22-04-16 (22-04-16, 10:44 PM)maddog04 link Wrote: cheers mate Re: pond vacs - esetest - 22-04-16 (22-04-16, 10:44 PM)maddog04 link Wrote: cheers mateIf you have an ornamental type pond with koi the dirty water might upset the fish , and it might spoil the look , but if you have a wildlife pond with goldfish or shubunkin or hybrids they can cope with dirty water for few days , I have the latter which is a lot easier to maintain . Re: pond vacs - maddog04 - 22-04-16 its more of a wildlife pond and they cope but lost a young un the other day which was one for the future in my eyes. just want clear water so I can see them all the time......have you ever tried that sludge buster stuff where you empty a sachet in and 8.5 Million bugs eat the sludge? Re: pond vacs - HarryHornby - 23-04-16 If you're in Liverpool, why not just go an "borrow" someone elses...... :b :pokefun Re: pond vacs - esetest - 23-04-16 (22-04-16, 11:49 PM)maddog04 link Wrote: its more of a wildlife pond and they cope but lost a young un the other day which was one for the future in my eyes. just want clear water so I can see them all the time......have you ever tried that sludge buster stuff where you empty a sachet in and 8.5 Million bugs eat the sludge?
