LEDs don't take a lot of current, so they'll work in parallel with the existing indicators ok. Take those away and the flasher relay will probably speed up as when a bulb has blown unless you add a load resistor or change the relay for an electronic type that isn't fussy about loading.
Taking the existing rear indicators off would probably be an MOT failure anyway:

Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989
Schedule 7, Part 1, Paragraph 2(ii)B
(Minimum separation distance between indicators on opposite sides of a vehicle):

A solo motor bicycle having an engine exceeding 50 cc and first used on or after 1st April 1986–
(1) Front indicators: 300 mm
(2) Rear indicators:  240 mm

I bought that exact tail light unit years ago.
Knowing me i more than likely made a couple of 'Y' cables to split the power, as i still have the original indicators on as well.
They work in sync okay when indicating, but the originals are much brighter.
My bike's a commuter so it was all about being seen more anyway, so they do the job for me, and no more concern about changing brake light bulbs.
But, are they worth the money? Probably not if truth be told, and i think i paid around £80 back in the day. They're no where near as bright as the original tail light.
So either add them as a gimmicky item, but don't remove the old indicators as they are there to do a job, you don't want to give any arsehole the chance of an excuse to say they didn't see you indicating, plus as Fazerider says there are legal issues too.

That is for the replys,  think I'll give it a miss if the tail light is no brighter,  have you tried led bulbs in a the original unit?

No, but i would be more inclined to try brighter bulbs if i still used it.

I used LED bulbs in the tail light on mine. They were brighter, lit up quicker, and never failed again.

Not any more. it was years ago I bought them from fleebay. They were not dissimilar to these though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Red-1157-BAY15D-P21-5W-380-12-LED-SMD-Car-Brake-Tail-Stop-Light-Lamp-Bulb-12V-/252284622716?hash=item3abd55d77c:g:8u4AAOSwuAVWvUyQ

Make sure you get white ones though as the lens will make red ones a bit dimmer.

I found led indicators on my old cbr600 weren't very bright, so changed them to bulbs.
I fitted my Fazer with an extra led tail light though after nearly being rear ended by a van going at 30 when I was stopped, indicating into my driveway with my brakes on. I made an alu bracket and attached it to the number plate screws. It's surprisingly bright.
