1998 forks and 2000 fzs 600 forks the same - snake0tuffty - 07-04-16 hi i want to put preload adjusters on my 98 box eye but can only find adjusters for the 2000+ model are the the same forks?? these are the adjusters >>>>>>> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fork-Red-Preload-Adjusters-Fit-Yamaha-FZS-600-Fazer-FZ-00-03-/252179648232?hash=item3ab7140ee8:g:cZQAAOSwt6ZWUI0t Re: 1998 forks and 2000 fzs 600 forks the same - bandit - 07-04-16 The 2000+ models are fitted with preload adjusters with different size fork springs (shorter) than the 98-99 models so they will need to be changed. Re: 1998 forks and 2000 fzs 600 forks the same - darrsi - 08-04-16 Don't expect miracles by adding adjusters to your forks, they hardly do anything anyway, when my forks had them on i always had them set to the firmest setting otherwise the front end was all over the place. I swapped my forks for older ones without the adjusters, but the real trick is to use 15w fork oil rather than 10w like it says in the manual. It firmed up the front end and made the handling much more predictable, it was a vast improvement for me. I can only guess that you're trying to firm up the forks so my advice would be to simply change the weight of the oil and leave the adjuster idea alone. AJ Sutton sells the '98 fork spring for £39, or the 2000+ spring for £95. :look Those adjusters in the link look like a straight bolt on though, due to that large washer at the bottom, having the slightly longer spring may actually be a plus. I would guess they may improve things a little bit, but i'd still change the oil for a heavier one anyway. Re: 1998 forks and 2000 fzs 600 forks the same - Deefer666 - 08-04-16 The "adjustable" forks on the later FZS600 do next to nothing. You would be better off with a decent set of springs and new oil. Thanks for confirming that, it never felt like they ever did anything to me whenever I tried them at different tension levels. :thumbup Re: 1998 forks and 2000 fzs 600 forks the same - Bimbam - 08-04-16 Hi. I have mounted HyperPro springs i my fork with SAE 20 oil and a new HyperPro spring on the rear. This set worked micracels for me. |
