Adjusting Gear Lever? - Percymama - 23-03-16 Hi Guys Finally managed to get out for a nice long ride on my 2002 Fazer 1000 today ![]() All very nice except One issue Changing up gears is damn painful! (wearing big boots) I cant get my foot under the lever with ease, and keep getting false neutral too? Is there a guide for adjusting the lever (pics would help - orĀ video) I have had a LOT of bikes, but never needed to do this before, is it a Fazer thing? The only other thing I can think of is not to wear my boots haha Thanks ![]() Re: Adjusting Gear Lever? - markie_wales - 23-03-16 Not by my Fazer but if it's like every other bike I've had to move the lever on, it will bolt onto a spline. Remove bolt, remove gear lever and put it back on in a different position on the spline. 5 min job. Cheers Markie Re: Adjusting Gear Lever? - Red Ceri - 23-03-16 It's even easier than that, at the ends of the gear change rod (Passes through the frame) there are two 10mm AF nuts, one is Left hand thread, once you've slackened both off you can turn the rod and this will adjust the position of the lever. A lot of people have changed the lever at the gearbox end for an early R1 part, this reduces the movement required at the foot lever. Search the forum for previous posts for the year of the R1. Re: Adjusting Gear Lever? - Percymama - 23-03-16 Thanks Guys ![]() I will take a look at the weekend ![]() Re: Adjusting Gear Lever? - Percymama - 25-03-16 Well thanks to you guys, adjusting the lever was easy as piss haha Now changing gears doesn't cause too much pain (broken Left leg and ankle with plates and pins means it aint ever gonna be painless lol) But still getting spaces (false neutral) between gears though? change up to 3rd, and have to lift twice as its just flopping there between gears? Any ideas? Re: Adjusting Gear Lever? - PieEater - 26-03-16 I think as Red Ceri suggested you might benefit from the R1 linkage mod as this apparently takes some travel out of the lever and makes changes more positive. I've dug out a couple of threads regarding this for you; http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,1052.msg7016.html http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,2832.msg22478.html Re: Adjusting Gear Lever? - Percymama - 26-03-16 Great!
