rear shocker - Metal Merv - 17-03-16

helo all.in need of some help regarding my very bouncey rear shock on my 07 fz1.has anybody fitted another shocker or harder spring.i am at the point of selling the bike on as it has given me some very nasty moments.i have been told I am a good smooth fairly fast rider, but I find I cant push my fz at any sort of real pace without getting the bike in a real mess.i love the bike but falling off is not for me.people say slow down then but then why have I got the bike.i live and ride for the corners.help please.

What have you set the rebound and compression to?

Bouncy is usually due to lack of damping, you shock is either set up wrong on the damping is gone awol

Mine was really wallowey when I got it I ramped up the preload about 3 clicks and about 2 clicks on the rebound and 3 on the compression
I don't know if it was on standard settings when I started but it feels a lot more sporty now

What mileage is on the bike and what weight are you?

Re: rear shocker - Metal Merv - 18-03-16

my weight is 14 stone.i have pre load set on 4 notches, comp 10 clicks out from fully in.dont have any more adjusters on shock.bike done 14,000.it feels like the spring is to soft.i have heard people put an r1 shock on but I don't know what year one they use.there probly loads of shocks that will fit it with very little mods needed, but can work out a lot of money to just try them.

Wind the spring preload up to 6 and set the rebound to 3 clicks out from full in.

It is possible the damping is gone in the shock and you require a new shock, but try the above first and let me know how you get on.
