Ignition on crackling noise? - Motopsycho87 - 09-02-16 Anyone know what this is? Everything on the bike is working fine, but when I turn the ignition to the on position I can hear a faint crackling noise, it sounds like it's coming from the tank or clocks area but I can't pin point it... Fzs1000 2002 Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - sadlonelygit - 09-02-16 is it a sort of tzzz tzzzz kind of sound :rolleyes Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - tex - 09-02-16 Probably the exup cycling Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - sadlonelygit - 09-02-16 (09-02-16, 11:22 PM)tex link Wrote: Probably the exup cycling don't spoil it...............i was going to offer him £50 cos it's focced!!!!!!!!! Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - tommyardin - 10-02-16 No wonder you sad and lonely you mean foccer :lol Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - tommyardin - 10-02-16 Mind you I spent about an hour and a bit searching the internet when I first got my Fazer, cos someone said to me that the Exup valve really needs stripping down and cleaning out and lubing each year, as I said an Hour and a bit later I found out that FZS does not have one. :fish Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - PieEater - 10-02-16 (10-02-16, 12:08 AM)tommyardin link Wrote: Mind you I spent about an hour and a bit searching the internet when I first got my Fazer, cos someone said to me that the Exup valve really needs stripping down and cleaning out and lubing each year, as I said an Hour and a bit later I found out that FZS does not have one. :fish The OP says he has a FZS1000 and has been told that the noise he is hearing is most likely the EXUP cycling so your post is only going to confuse him and anyone else new who reads it. I assume you're talking about the FZS600 in which case you're on the wrong forum. Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - Motopsycho87 - 10-02-16 The bike has a full akrapovic system on it. So no exup. Is there a solenoid hidden somewhere that I should remove? Read a post on the American forum that someone mentioned the sound to do with the "fuel gauge tracer", whatever that is...? Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - markie_wales - 10-02-16 Could be that the exup servo (motor) has been left in with cables disconnected. Tank off/lifted, ear under tank, ignition on ![]() Cheers Markie Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - tex - 10-02-16 (09-02-16, 11:26 PM)sadlonelygit link Wrote:
don't spoil it...............i was going to offer him £50 cos it's focced!!!!!!!!! Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - sadlonelygit - 11-02-16 does it sound like a servo cycling when you turn it on. once it's on, you will hear a minute amount of motor noise as it holds a neutral position. Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - windscreenman - 11-02-16 Just done full service inc ais removal makes changing plugs a piece of piss,Just had my servo out of the bike cracked it open greased it all put it back oiled cables , serviced exup too snapped 1 bolt in the exhaust doh Drilled out re tapped and fresh stainless bolts, put it back together switched ignition on heard a funny noise from the servo thought the worst :'( took it out opened valve and swithed ignition on and servo returned to neutral position so thats a bonus buzzing was just servo spinning up :lol Next up ivans jet kit Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - nickodemon - 12-02-16 (11-02-16, 12:29 PM)Motopsycho87 link Wrote: Is the cycling a constant noise? If you squirt electrical lube down the ignition and turn it on and off a few times the noise should go away. Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - unfazed - 12-02-16 Turn off the engine with the kill switch, now turn off the ignition. Turn on the ignition is the noise gone? If so it is the exup servo Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - tommyardin - 13-02-16 (10-02-16, 06:55 AM)PieEater link Wrote:
The OP says he has a FZS1000 and has been told that the noise he is hearing is most likely the EXUP cycling so your post is only going to confuse him and anyone else new who reads it.
Oh I do beg your pardon Pie, I did not realise that if you don't have a 1K fazer your not allowed in this chat, I foolishly thought that the FOC was a club for all Fazer owners (How stupid of me) is it a club for any 1K Fazer owner or is it just a certain model or year or maybe it has to be a certain colour, maybe you are not allowed to post if you don't have a rear hugger or fender extender fitted. I know mate I sorry as I am now being as big twat as others on here. My apologies Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - Fazerjon - 16-02-16 Did you sort the crackling noise out, coz mines doing it now, fzs 1000 2003. Ignition on, then it sounds like a relay clicking once, then the crackling sizzling noise starts until ignition is switched off. Sounds a bit like something arcing or shorting out, hope it's not....... Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - windscreenman - 17-02-16 Mines got a new battery on and it's still doing it it's the exup servo the grease inside is very sticky and it sounds Like it's clicking as the cogs spin uplift the tank and feel the servo for vibrations to check operation ignition off turn wheel on servo to open valve then switch ignition back on if it returns to original setting put your tank back down and don't worry about it :lol Re: Ignition on crackling noise? - Motopsycho87 - 17-02-16 Nope, not sorted it yet, but what you are describing is exactly what I'm getting, more of a constant sizzling noise. I've changed the battery recently, and starter relay, so nothing to do with them (didn't think it would be anyway!) But I'll get to the source of it hopefully this evening, as I'll have it apart to balance the carbs anyway! |
