Carb Cleaner - HarryHornby - 04-02-16 Hi All, I remember a while back there was a discussion on here about carb/fuel cleaner. Someone mentioned about a really good one you can get from Halfords for about £15, there are several on their site for that, does anyone remember which one was recommended? I'm looking at a one shot thing that gives the fuel system a good cleaning with the hope of increasing performance. Re: Carb Cleaner - darrsi - 04-02-16 STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner. Use half a bottle per full tank, over 2 tanks worth. You're the first person i've ever really heard compliment that stuff. I tried it years ago for carb icing and it was no good at all for that, which is what made me do a bit of research and stumbled on the 99% Isopropyl Alcohol treatment instead, which worked very well and was way cheaper too. There's two types though, 99%+ alcohol, and the other is around 70% i think but the other 30% is water so defeats the object. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-LITRE-PURE-99-9-ISOPROPANOL-IPA-SOLVENT-5L-CLEANER-ISOPROPYL-ALCOHOL-/191716560154?hash=item2ca3328d1a:g:N14AAOSwPhdVR6F3 STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner is the only one of its type that i have ever had noticeable good results with before, and i've tried a few. Re: Carb Cleaner - HarryHornby - 05-02-16 Cheers lads. My plan was to wait until it warms up and ridnig more, infact I will probably wait for a lofo run where we'll do a couple of hundred miles in a day and use the stuff then. |
