Bleed Nipples??? - chunk166 - 02-01-16

Happy New Year everyone, Just a quick question. How do I free up the bleed nipples on my rear caliper? They look quite corroded  but I don't want to snap off the bleed nipples as they look a bit dodgy & as my bike is my only transport I need to get it right first time!! I understand that these (fzs600 2002) calipers as notorious for seizing up!! Apart from fitting a FZS1000/XJR1300 caliper (lots of £££££). I expect this should be in the FZS600 section but I feel i might get more tips/answers here in the General section.

WD40/plusgas etc etc

If you think its likely to shear you and get banjo bolts with bleed niples in them

Never heard of "banjo bolts with bleed niples in them" I will have a look on ebay & order 1. I suppose they work the same way as normal banjo bolts??

Yeah, tighten up banjo as normal, then spanner on both banjo and bleed nipple to lock it up

I've got some Banjo with bleed nipples, I used them on Laura's trike when I realised that the previous owner had not just snapped the bleed nipples off but filled them in as well  :eek

But I always heat corroded bleed nipples up and then quench them with penetrating oil (not WD40, that's wank!). I do that a couple of times and they nearly always wind straight out.
