New Helmet Design - Dead Eye - 18-12-15 Interesting new helmet design that I came across during my interweb browsing http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3363492/A-helmet-two-halves-Radical-rear-access-shell-design-make-motorcycles-far-safer.html Re: New Helmet Design - celticdog - 18-12-15 Rear access! :eek ooh err missus. Looks like a good design, very sleek. It probably cuts down on wind noise. It might be a bit suspect on side impact though. Re: New Helmet Design - darrsi - 18-12-15 Can't help but feel it would be fine in summer, but if it's more fitted around the chin area then it'll probably play havoc with textile jackets and neck wear in colder weather. Re: New Helmet Design - locksmith - 18-12-15 Looks interesting Re: New Helmet Design - fazersharp - 18-12-15 I think I am liking it a lot, one thing though it says "A 'fully adjustable chin strap has also been designed to prevent strap creep" But it also says It has been designed to not need a chin strap. I think if it didn't have a chin strap you could even put it on with gloves on, also for me as I wear glasses I could already be wearing them when I put it on, also when I put my lid on now it tends to rip out my earplugs as my ears bend down. Re: New Helmet Design - nick crisp - 18-12-15 What worries me most about this Liam, is that you've been reading the Daily Fail again :lol Re: New Helmet Design - Frosties - 18-12-15 (18-12-15, 11:28 AM)fazersharp link Wrote: I think I am liking it a lot, one thing though it says Piccy of Sharpy below - reckon he uses bath plugs in them. Sorry fella but can only sympathise :lol . Re: New Helmet Design - fazersharp - 18-12-15 There you go you see if that fella was to put the helmet on face first it would pin his ears back nicely Re: New Helmet Design - J_Dub - 18-12-15 Bit more about it on here; https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lnydMibNojo&feature=youtu.be Re: New Helmet Design - NorthWestern - 18-12-15 certainly an interesting lid Re: New Helmet Design - BBROWN1664 - 18-12-15 I like the look of that. IIRC though, the rules for helmets in the uk need them to have straps so unless the rules change, we wont get them here. I like the idea. If we get them here I'd definitely be looking to try one out and if cost isn't prohibitive and it's comfortable etc then I see no reason why I wouldn't buy one Re: New Helmet Design - hotmetal - 18-12-15 Apparently they have a QR code that paramedics are supposed to scan so they can get instructions for how to take it off an injured rider. Yeah like they're gonna be googling on their phones while you lie on the ground. But then how hard can it be when it's just 2 clips? And I reckon it would be good in the case of a neck injury because the back of the lid would support the head while the front is lifted off for mouth-to-mouth. I wonder if it will get rejected simply on the basis of the existing rules about straps? Presumably though "fixed securely" doesn't specify a normal strap as such? Re: New Helmet Design - joebloggs - 18-12-15 A French company GPA made a helmet that had two hinged sections front and rear that locked in place around your neck. My concern would be for those of us with odd shaped heads, and how it would feel after a few months when the padding starts to give.
