Now for something completely un-interesting - joebloggs - 20-11-15

I'd flatted the swing arm back, removing all the anodizing on the top and sides (all by hand as mr muscle didn't seem to touch it) and was hoping to leave it satin finish, that was a. until a. someone went and polished the rear wheel, and b. satin is harder to achieve than you'd think

I brought an attachment a few years ago that allows you to fit polishing mops on an angle grinder, the mop sits to far out for my liking (becomes a giant gyroscope that you constantly battle) but if you slip you hit the part your polishing with the guard etc rather than a spinning chuck. Oh and another plus is they seem to last a little longer than drills lol

Swingarm, not completely happy with it as theres a few scratches left from sanding, didn't notice them when it was satin, but stand out a mile now  :wall :wall :wall

Rear wheel, not finished yet, previous owner/s must have let the wheel get into a really bad state before painting it, real mess underneath the paint, I was messing around trying to remove the paint as gently as possible, took bloody ages, next door hit it with some wet and dry and it came up like new after about half an hour (he's a bodywork specialist)

I've sprayed my disc centre matte black (same black as calipers etc) and purchased some stainless button heads to mount it so hopefully it'll look half decent when I get it all back together (wheel centres also going to be matte)

Theres something else which I think will be a nice finishing touch but you'll have to wait for the next thrilling episode

Looks to me like you have got rather excited about all your shiny and been breathing a bit heavy on your lens.

What polishing soaps are you using

:lol

All we've used so far is autosol, its a little to abrasive to get a perfect mirror finish but have a set of three (ebay) soaps at my brothers which I'll fetch later and have another go.

Quite happy with the finish on the wheel as it is tbh so depending on the results from the soaps I may leave it as it is.

I'm a little concerned about the standard I achieve as a couple of years ago I restored a GPZ600r to such a high standard I didn't want to use it (sounds dumb I know but I was scared of marking it)

I would of though that you would of been far better with your soaps than autosol
I use the 3 soaps on a bench grinder with 3 matching mops
Cutting soap on a tightly sewn corse mop
Then 1st polishing soap and a slightly softer mop
then final polishing soap on a soft mop
Not the wheel but I recon you could do the swing arm on a bench grinder with mops

If I remember correctly I have green white and pink, been awhile since I've seen them tbh, I also have some grit impregnated soaps which are great for getting into corners or working on pitting etc, not for polishing but removing corrosion or rubbing out scratches they're ideal
