Waterproof covers - redfox1 - 26-10-15
Hi everybody! Have I just been unlucky,or do decent and long-lived rain covers not exist! I have bought both the Oxford Aquatex,and then after that failed,the more substantial Rainex,but this too has decided let in moisture after a measily 6 months. Do I take the plunge (no pun intended!),or is there something out there which is more effective? -Cheers!

Not a helpful reply sorry but do you find your cover scuffs your paint in strong winds? Mine is waterproof for now but it's rubbing the (already stuffed and thin) paint through a bit. It's lined but I guess not enough.

IMO the problem is the water makes puddles in the cover and it gives up soon or later.
I am not an expert but DIY solution using piece of waterproof PU nailon to improve the top of your exiting cover maybe?

Motorbike folding cover with some kind of internal support may be the solution?

I've used plastic sheets before on one bike and I'll never do it again! One windy night is all it took to take the paint off in a couple of areas.
I ended up putting the sheet over and using bungees around the wing mirrors, and another around the tail piece to stop it rubbing on the paint.
I've got a chap who lives down the road from me who has a kind of bike 'tent' on his drive with a metal frame, padlocks and all sorts of security. It looks sturdy. and he's had it a good few years. Might be worth looking into as an alternative to covers.

Anyone any experience of JDC covers? I'm also building up to a waterpoof cover purchase, are the oxford products really that bad?
