FZ6R powered boat - Marcus K - 14-10-15 Hi Guys, I'm a newbie member in desperate need of help and guidance..... I've been building a small classic 60's style boat inspired by the glitzy Riva Super Aquarama :eek Its looking fab... To power it I'm lucky enough to have successfully searched out a FZ6R engine, which I absolutely adore.... it's pretty much brand new as it only had 65 miles on the clock, got that about 2 years ago ... its taken me this long to get to the point where my attention is all on getting the engine up and running I've installed the engine in the boat after a great deal of re-inventing the wheel, and adapting brackets etc, and a whole bunch of headache making solutions..... I have the complete loom and I've made any connections that were obvious but, l but there's a ton of connections and stuff I won't need, trouble is I just don't know enough about the electrics to make the final push to get the engines electrical system, I have a haynes manual showing the wiring diagram but to me it might as well be in chinese... hard to follow for a layman Anyone out there who might be able to offer any advice or maybe point me in the direction of a Fazer electrics guru that might be able to help me make these final connections? Cheers Marcus Re: FZ6R powered boat - chaz - 14-10-15 You have to find what you need to keep, lights? horn? and then what you have to keep to run the engine, things like sidestand and clutch switches and the sensors, I think you need to find someone whos put an engine into something other than a bike? I built a trike and used the reliant harness thought it would be easy and I would remember what went where but its not, but if you label the wires then it makes it easier, don't tell me the harness is off the bike? good luck with it. Re: FZ6R powered boat - Marcus K - 15-10-15 Cheers, You're absolutely right, I know it's gonna be a headache for sure I've got the original harness and as you say it all about what I need and what's redundant, really all I need is the engine running, all other stuff isn't needed... Looks to me like I have to find a way around the side stand cut out, the engine stop and the immobiliser and possible other redundant sensors Also got to figure out which wire on the ecu is for the tacho I'll be using the oil sensor, water temp but that's about it Why can't things be simple, plug an go, ha ha Thing is it's a fab engine, perfect ... Fits in all the right places M Re: FZ6R powered boat - Exupnut - 15-10-15 Pictures please.... Re: FZ6R powered boat - Robbie8666 - 15-10-15 I was thinking why put a 600cc bike engine in a boat.... then I googled it & found this.... http://www.apolloduck.co.uk/feature.phtml?id=410308&fx=GBP how much for a boat!!!?? Re: FZ6R powered boat - Marcus K - 15-10-15 I chose the engine because of its compact dimensions, it definately fits well and part from the performance, it looks the part The boat is only 15 ft, it's a classic 60's hull with plenty of polished wood and chrome.... after the style of those fabulous Rivas, I'm workin on some pics, just gotta figure out how to post em Regarding the ecu, I trolled around the internet this afternoon and came across an immobiliser emulator that might work altho I need to check the possibility that the FZ6R engine is US spec and may not have come with an immobiliser.... That would be a result! M Re: FZ6R powered boat - chaz - 16-10-15 click on additional options, then browse, to upload your photo |
